Islam conquered Arabia in a century. Egypt and Iran in 25 years. The first resistance Islam faced was in India. Even after 1400 years Islam is still minority in subcontinent. In the meantime by sea lanes Islam also occupied Indonesia.

If India had beocme Islamic, Chinese wouldn't even have resisted. China would have been Islamic within 100 years I bet.

It is in deep Chinese interest that India stays Hindu.

And FYI only those parts of India are Islamic which were Buddhist majority or had Buddhism as a state subject.

So Hindus are still as they were while Chinese are communist and others have submitted to Islam or Christianity.

From the prespective of Islamic history, we have fared the best. A billion Indians are non Muslims.

We had no issues with Buddhism, Jainism or Sikhism. But they will never be allowed to be the religion of majority of India. We will never repeat the mistake.

LOL no, Christianity and Islam in China are both around 1% of the population.

Those rumours come about because some Christian organisations don't believe the official numbers from the Chinese government, and they invent their own numbers in lieu of that.

But any actual experience on the ground in China shows that the official numbers are the closest to reality. The vast majority of Chinese people are either Atheist or follow Chinese folk religion.

I am not sure Ahimsa was the only thing. I think Hitler and the new ambitions of the USA also had much to do with it.

I agree, when it worked it saved a lot of lives as in Martin Luther King civil rights movement and the uprooting of apartheid in South Africa mostly by non violent means.


Japan lost WW2 and the terms were pretty humiliating...to this day. They would be very "persuadable" had they been the colonizer.

I know Japan gets a lot of flak for being "cruel" during the war, but the British were not much better you know....I think a lot of the history of the time was written through the eyes of racism and winner is right.

The DNA composition of country is not my type of topic, but what he said have some truth to it, the people who star in Bollywood movies obviously have different DNA from the masses that watch them. I thought this thread was about the the impact of religions on India's development. Why DNA became the topic?

On topic, it is not the Buddhism that hinders India's delay in nation building, but it is the concept of "Karma" that has the biggest negative impact. Based my limited knowledge, people who believe in "Karma" tend to be lazy in this life, thinking they have "next life" to do better. Correct me if I am wrong.
