95% of Indian statistics are fake. We rely on our own sources for beef, it's during the Kurbani (Eid ul Azha) that imports are brought. And they come from India and Nepal.
But we mostly go for "deshi goru" as they taste better.
My reply was to a Pakistani. A country which has banned pork.
The scale of smuggling is something around 2million it cannot happen without trucks through roads and BSF involvement .If the home minister assert himself this can be easily stopped which seems likely looking at his statements ,legislations by BjP govt's in different states and PM's promises.
The ground reality is Bengal is going to be the centerpoint of discussion in coming years ,elections are near and no one can justify smuggling.
A farmer will earn way more by selling legally to a slaughterhouse in India than to a bangladeshi smuggler, nothing to do with ideology its pure business by stopping illegal trade we can run slaughterhouses which will employ ppl, ,farmers will earn more, state will earn as their will be taxes.Yes if bangladesh find other affordable places it is free to choose,we export to many countries.Smuggling is real and while there's demand there will always be smuggling. No matter what the hindrances/legal impediments are...
The average poor farmer on the border doesn't give a rat's *** about ideology - it's his income he's worried about. No amount of legislation or restriction can stop this. And in the end, restriction can get expensive. So expensive - in fact - that it exceeds the benefits gained by the restriction.
Then you are faced (as a nation) with the dilemma of whether you are doing this for profit or for ideology....

Their might always be smuggling but humongous scale will not remain the same if this govt. act on their word.Halting smuggling is all benefit from an Indian point of view.
India is exporting beef from 1969 to over 60 countries including Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, UAE, Saudi Arabia Egypt.etc none of them has ever reported a livestock related disease outbreak thus we have become a reliable exporter of risk free competitively priced meat which has over period made us the world's largest exporter. You my young friend - obviously have not thought this out. Slaughterhouses - really??
Meat (beef) spoils in a matter of hours if not handled properly. Even in the US and EU where they have stringent HACCP protocols are observed - and they have observers and inspectors from the Govt. inspecting plants all the time, they have issues often with bacterial contamination.
Bangladeshis consume a humongous amount of beef (or generally food) compared to what I've seen in India. They don't simply take a roti and some onions to have breakfast or lunch if they can afford it. Visit Dhaka during Qurbani Eid time if you want to get some idea. I'm sure some of our Kolkata brothers have.

If bangladesh feel they can afford better quality meat from different country it is free to choose ,yeah but we also export some to china as well
Wrong cow meat is exported from India usually from the states which allow cow slaughter either openly or by a certificate with different states banning cow slaughter W Bengal can be a good source for our exports.Well since Cow Meat is banned for export from India - Buffalo Meat constitutes about 97% of the total livestock products exported from it. Bangladeshis don't eat smelly Buffalo meat so we have to start looking for alternate sources for reasonably priced beef.
Beef in international markets is a fairly stabilized commodity as far as price so no issues there.
So going forward,
1. Bangladeshi beef imports from other global areas will increase. In fact high-quality beef already comes in from Australia.
2. Animal Husbandry industry in Bangladesh will improve with JV's from other countries. I don't see cow slaughter stopping.
3. If beef prices do go up locally - general health maladies will come down which connect with the consumption of red meat - such as high rates of cholesterol and strokes etc.
So this is all good.
Your plan? I'm talking about this idiot alone, most Indian probably find this guy's statement idiotic, as they should. No reasonable person would agree to something as stupid as this.Damn you got our plan. Depriving them of beef for 10 years will revitalize their Hindu DNA by 90 percent.
