BSF should end smuggling of cattle to Bangladesh:HM

We are the largest meat exporters and you guys are not even considerable legal client ,their are many countries who will gladly buy.
your idea will only increase illeagal smuggling and cow policing from bsf

since india is already a top exporter they could have implemented this by now but they didnt. simply because it isnt feasible.

which ofcourse brings me back to my original question:azn:

offcourse you can seal the indo bangla border which is an completly different ball game

.
Its not just about Bangladeshi wanting to buy Indian beef cattle, its also about poor Indian farmer and villagers willing to sell as well. Nobody forces them to sell cattle, 90% of the male calf are sold to butchers, and they end up on the Bangladesh border.

Its a tricky situation and the Indian government needs to deal with it with an open mind, and not on the religious and emotional lines.

Western countries like US & others don't allow Alcohol sale on Sunday. And in the process lose hefty tax revenues.
You have to uphold some principles as a nation, for everything is not business.

Of course, but people need to understand the importance of 10,000 bucks that a poor farmer gets by selling the male calf. Would you be willing to compensate him for that? Would you be willing to spend money out of your pocket to look after and feed the male calf? If not then why expect the poor farmer to foot the bill for the "principles of the nation".

Its a touchy issue, but we need to put our emotions aside and think about it logically.

ya but its not like the life support of the alcohol sellers depend on the bussiness on sunday. where as your farmers who sell cows at the indo bangla border rely on such trade for an income to make a honest living

Errr,i already said we have to halt the illegal trade, which are the directions given by Home Minister of India ,

so their will be a lot of first time things from now on.

Halting the illegal trade of million cattle through trucks is way more easier than sealing the border.

It reminds me of the story "Mahesh". Brahmans didnt allow the farmer to sell his bull or kill. He had no money to feed his bull or neither anyone helped him to feed. He was in grave crisis. It will be a sorrowful incident for the poor people if these histories repeat.

it would be a whole lot easier if india simply legalising cattle to bangladesh. make money. the farmers who sell will be able to make a living. cutting bangladesh out of the trade wont help. it will only increase the smuggling because they will simply pay smugglers money to get what they want. its what happens between neighbors

simply legally sell the cows to bangladesh. it moves out the smuggler out of the picture. and the farmers can make an honest living . its a indians banglas issue and subtracting your neighbour completly wont solve a thing.

This is next to impossible to enforce - lots of open areas still. Bangladesh will actually benefit because local industry (farms) will prosper. Cows can be and are grown locally as well. Initially beef prices will go up...but they will stabilize after a while.

Have you ever visited the border? Where will the Chai-Pani 'side-income' of BSF commanders come from? You know it does percolate to the top - in fact to the home-minister's table itself. He's just pandering to the saffron crowd...

Ground realities and idealism are two different things. We're talking about demand and supply here.

Every citizen has a job cut out for him or her.

Army man guards our border, why not you?
People clean toilets, why not you?

So this is frivolous from you to ask me to foot the farmers bill.
Farmers are not the only one who stand to lose on GOI's policies.
Everyone gets affected one or the other ways.
But National laws are supreme.

If farmers have any grouse, why don't they end up under the Supreme Court's palace of justice?

Knowingly selling cows (to be slaughtered) through the Indo Bangla border to smugglers must be a honest living by your standards.
Lol

Are you for real? You want a farmer, who is barely surviving, to run to the the supreme court? Have you ever been to a village? Go to a village in North or Central India, go to the villages of Bihar, UP, Bengal and see the conditions some people live in , and what Rs 10,000 mean to them. You are being ridiculous.

Army man and toilet cleaners get paid for what they are doing, the day government or people like you pay the farmer for his male calf, he won't sell it either. Why expect the poor farmer of all the people to do his "duty to the nation" free of cost?

The scale of smuggling is something around 2million it cannot happen without trucks through roads and BSF involvement .If the home minister assert himself this can be easily stopped which seems likely looking at his statements ,legislations by BjP govt's in different states and PM's promises.
The ground reality is Bengal is going to be the centerpoint of discussion in coming years ,elections are near and no one can justify smuggling.

Bidi workers are not rich either they are poor people. They will get affected by GOI's ban on tobacco...so?
BTW, to spouse farmers grouse, there are hundreds of NGOs in India, they will take up their cause, should there be a merit.

Bottom of the barrel: When a tidal wave comes in, everything gets swept away...
Fight the Government (If wrong) through the courts.
And more, such laws were made by Indian citizens who are in majority.
So why cry?

Male calf is not the issue. Cow slaughter is.
Smuggling of cattle also must end. BD just buy the cattle legally. Except cows.

You heard the man, he wants to discourage beef eating in BD. Do you know what that means? He wants BD to come under India's control, and turn it Hindu.
Damn you got our plan. Depriving them of beef for 10 years will revitalize their Hindu DNA by 90 percent.
