British Indians best off among minority ethnic groups: report

i live in the north, pendal, in the south £600k will get you a a standard 4 bed semi, or a detached at best. but in the north if you know where to look you can get a kitted out 6 bed detached with about an acre of land for about the same. have you been to preston there plenty of indians who live there and thats true north not like manchester.
Yeah but who wants the live in the North :P

Lived in York for a year and it was freaking miserable!

Our community has failed at that until recently. Now we see the success of the Indians and race and compete to get children educated, but the second generation here, generally missed that boat, mainly because we needed the money to fix the financial difficulties "back home". In some communities they still don't get it (the most deprived towns) but on the whole my generation and the generation after have a much higher percentage of educated people than before.

Dude, spot on for many of Pakistan's diaspora. Completely spot on for the US also.

Our median income on paper is MUCH lower than what it is in reality because Pakistanis in the UK have large undeclared income and we avoid paying tax as much as possible.....................:azn:

If it is true that is not a badge of honor

On the contrary half the darned Indians in UK are Ugandan Asians who tended to be well educated or business people well inured to modern life.

Your statement is false. There are 1.451 million Indians in United Kingdom. There was 27,000 Indians from Uganda who settled in UK.

I apologise.

I thought you were like kaptaan. Intelligent but trying to troll and be crude. I see you are crude and a troll but trying to portray yourself as intelligent.

I would not take him seriously or representative of any group. He is a disgrace to his own group.

Try not to rely on Wiki too much. Not reliable source. I know how frequently Ugandian Asians pop up in the list of "Who is Who" alluding to their success. Read this -

"Between 1972 and 1973, nearly 40,000 Ugandan Asians came here. Many originated in India and had British overseas passports, and the then Prime Minister Edward Heath said our country had a moral duty to help them."

Today we see Ugandan Asians at the top of so many professions: journalism, business, sport, public services and, notably, politics, including Lord Popat, who has called today’s debate, and Shailesh Vara MP, who has called a similar debate in the Commons.!

British rule in East Africa enhanced the position of Gujarati entrepreneurs who had operated there for centuries, and also introduced a large, though mainly temporary, population of Punjabi labourers. Following Ugandan independence from Britain in 1962 and Kenyan independence in 1963, the governments introduced ‘Africanization' policies. The wealthy Asian middle class, who had lived to some extent like the colonial hierarchy, were an obvious target. Around 50,000 of the 80,000 Asians living in Uganda opted for British rather than Ugandan citizenship

East African Asians have improved their living standards and educational qualifications more than other new minorities from the Indian subcontinent. A large number are in the retail distribution sector running family-owned shops. Others have become professionals in the media, law, medicine, business consultancy, etc. Several have set up multi-million-pound businesses operating on a global scale.

Why is this blog anymore reliable than Wikipedia ?

Not all of the 40,000 Uganda Asians consider themselves Indian. Some of them consider themselves Pakistani.

How does the 40,000 in this blog become 50,000 ? What do you think 50,000 has grown to ?? Maybe 100,000. You are assuming all of them settled in UK permanently. I know at couple of families who were Ugandan Asians who hold British passports and are in USA with green cards.

You assume business success in Uganda translates into success in United Kingdom. It is not automatic.

50k Ugandian Asians had British Passports. Most used those to come to UK. You don't think they moved to Somalia do you. Vast majority of those 'Gandan Asians are from what is India now. Mostly Kutchi/Gujju stock. There is some from what is now Pak but tiny minority. And let me say it again to you - many of the top Asians in UK are of African Asian background.

Indians in America are also best performing too.

You are in UK. I take your word on this subject.

Sajid Javid's mum is not Indian, she's just a Punjabi who immigrated from East to West Punjab when partition happened.

WOW, when did a person born and brought up in England all of a sudden became a Pakistani how ???

The people voted in favor of Labour party not Pakistan. LOL :rofl::rofl::rofl:

And do you think the Brits voted for Mr. Khan just because he is a Pakistani ?? what a weird logic :p:
what?

this is the strangest comment I've herd about SK, so many pakistani voted for the first time in the mayor elections just for the simple fact Sajid Khan is pakistani.

you haven't got a clue Tom i can tell this because you arent from london and haven't got a scooby doo how the mayoral election played out. you are forgetting the the medias campaign against Sajid Khan which was borderline racist which lead record numbers of S Asians turning out to vote for a fellow asian against Zac goldsmith who played dirty politics through out the campaign calling SK a terrorist sympathiser.

Admit it Tom you arent from london and are talking out of your back side as per.

I like the Pakistanis in London, long ago I was visiting there and had some financial problems. I got help from the owner of the hotel whom were Pakistanis, I didn't even know them. They helped me either because I was turkish or because I was muslim, or both. Anyway really good people.

In this day and age people don't help people they don't know like that.

Hope I can return the favor some day by helping a Pakistani.
