Bhagyanagar was not named after bhagmati, it was named after goddess Bhagya Lakshmi, The same temple which is present in Charminar STRUCTURE ,the legend is built around it.The story of Goddess Lakshmi wanting to move away from Hyderabad etc.
Not some Imaginary Hindu queen.The wikipedia article you provided itself says Bhagmati was a Myth produced by some people.

I don't know much about Mumbai/Bombay but some name changes can be pretty absurd. Persians demanded everybody start calling their country "Iran" because that's the way they say it. Same with Peking becoming "Beijing". It's like if Germany woke up on morning and started demanding everybody else call their country "Deutschland".

It has nothing to do with 'Hindu' nationalism. It is the name used by the original residents. Who happen to be Christian, Buddhist, Muslim and Hindu. Maharashtrians, the people of Maharashtra, speak a language Marathi. In this language, it has always been Mumbai.

Coming to the point of them using English as their native tongue, nothing could be further from the truth. Marathi is a compulsory language, which all Indians who stay in Maharashtra are taught in school.

The number of wannabe intellectuals has grown by the number, since the time their favourite party, the Congress has lost power across the country.

and "love jihad" is a fiction created by the sangh and some of their supporters in the catholic churches of kerala... these people use this scare to oppress hindu ladies and christian ladies by preventing through coercion and violence from exercising their human right of being with whichever man they wanted.

yeah, i posted the iit, iim and court names in those cities in post# 30.

i didn't know that many people in madras call their city as madras... once, the aged mother of a former tamil brahmin senior of mine ( himself in his 50's then ) said that her son had gone to madras for a visit... this was not in tamil nadu.

Well, you may call yourself an intellectual. Others may have a different point of view.

And you are right, people of other ethnic background also live in Maharashtra. And fortunately or unfortunately, they voted for a government which approved the name change. Now, even after the said government was changed, the new government did not change the name. So what does that tell you?

Fortunately, we do not live in a Libyan Utopia where a person with a different point of view would have been shot. We live in an imperfect Indian Republic which tolerates 'intellectuals'.
