Bal Thackeray is a fascist fanatic. An admirer of the Hitler. He constantly and with passage of time has changed his face. Initially he was a product of Congress party to counter the strong Communist presence in Maharashtra state of India and its capital, Mumbai/Bombay. Later he started movement for well being of Marathis and start attacking the Madrasis from south and Gujarathis from Gujarat and also the North Indians. Later with passage of time and assessing the opportunities this sheet become the saviour of so called "Hindutva" legacy and a killer of muslims with a free hand given by the state governments.

Politicians are the same world over.

Their survival is dependant on staying in the public eye. Utterances of mavericks like Thakeray should not be taken seriously ..Islam has just as much reason to be in India as buddhism, sikhism, hinduism, christianity, Jainism, Zorastrism and ALL the other religions have.We have shared the same land for centuries & there is no reason for us to think otherwise.

The infighting in Shiv Sena will worsen once Thakeray fades away. Most of us are helping his cause by paying attention to him & his remarks .

Events of 14 /15 Aug '47 led to the spread of both sensible & stupid people across both sides of the border.

Thackeray is simply one of the mavericks on the Indian side.

Instead of waiting for the "Khalifah", how about getting off our derrières and improving our education system, our social services, and learning to respect and tolerate other beliefs and peoples?

The only thing people pushing for the "return of the Khalifah" want to do is burn down educational institutions for girls, destroy our arts and culture, and stifle any free thinking whatsoever.

The above approach has been tried already, and is the reason why the Muslim world finds itself intellectually bankrupt and woefully lagging behind the West.

I don't understand how some muslims can misinterpret the teaching of Islam into passiveness.
Didn't the Prophet (pbuh) said: God only helps who help themselves?

well said Agno. We live in a fools paradise and while not moving our feet expect divine intervention and help. In our current state, nothing but "Azaab "can come our way. We need to seriously consider our ways, reform ourselves, and develop the habit of working hard and being humble. The morons that are commiting these acts in the name of Islam deserve nothing but contempt.
