Senior bureaucrat Rajiv Mehrishi will be new home secretary. He was due to retire today, given two-year extension replacing LC Goyal .Goyal has himself sought voluntary retirement from service.

Mehrishi is said to be the brains behind key labour reforms in Rajasthan. Not to mention he was also a vocal critic of schemes launched during the previous Congress government.

Goyal is from kerala cadre, not from kerala. They are both different. Ethnically he is from Haryana.

This has more to do with wiping out Lutyans network than anything else... Besides check post number 4. He is experianced

Experience is also a qualifier, Competency is a bigger qualifier. Age is a minor dis qualifier.
