Sir, wouldn't the earthquake scale depend on the condition of earth in the area? Hard igneous rocks would give a different response to other types of rocks. And in the case of Pokhran, well LOLz they performed the test below normal ground I think.

So if a 100 kt is not a successful h-bomb then a device with 2.67 time less yield that means it even its fission boosted stage did not work and no fusion took place at all.
Which version is more palatable for you that (1) NK tested a valid H-bomb or (2) pokhran-II failed comprehensively ?

A valid question... but I think have algorithms to account for distance, condition of the earth and depth etc. However I still think that Seismic stations are not the most accurate instruments for measuring earth quake.

The crucial thingy here is divided into 2.

1) How much maal went into the test device.
2) How much underwent the fission thereof.

DEFCON types wont know this.

The yield is dependent upon these two factors.
