BREAKING: Iran successfully launches 1st military satellite into orbit!

Iran still doesn’t have a solid large first stage engine nearly 12 years later. It’s obvious the program has struggled.

Meanwhile NK has gone from crappy Tapedong-2 to H-14, H-15 and reached ICBM status in half that time.

The proof is in the pudding. It doesn’t take 12 years to build a solid first stage engine. And this program has likely even going on since early 2000’s.

H-14 and H-15 are both clumsy liquid fuel ICBMs. Literally ICBMs in name only, not very survivable, road-mobile only, very long fuelling times etc.

that “clumsy” liquid fuel ICBM is powered by a RD-250. An 1960’s engine that Iran can’t even reverse engineer (yet). Iran is still using even crappier liquid SCUD no-dong engines in its Ghadr, Safir, Simorgh and Qasem.

So don’t disrespect an engine when Iran is using an even more archaic liquid engine.

this should be a big red flag for Iranian enemies. Iran has an extremely advanced nuclear program that can build a bomb at will. Now we have demonstrated ICBM technology out of nowhere..

If I were a betting man, id say the IRGC already has nuclear warheads aimed at the Zionists at a minimum with at least plans on increasing it to mainland USA..

Iran doesn't have ICBM tech yet. Iran definitely doesn't have deliverable nuclear warheads either (unless it got it off the shelves from NK through China etc....which again is not possible).

Iranian space program is progressing at miserable rate. It's not your fault. I understand the sanctions and geopolitical limitations.

By now, Iran should have been capable of launching 500kg-1000kg Satellites into LEO. Iran's space program used to be promising in late 2000's. I don't know what happened. It's 2020 and Iran is literally stuck. Countries that were behind you have now surpassed you by miles.

No disrespect, but it is what it is.

At this point, Iran should have been building a medium lift launch vehicle capable of launching payloads in GEO at 45000km. But Iran is a decade behind from reaching that level

That doesn't negate the fact that it's a liquid fuelled ICBM vulnerable to decapitation strikes and takes hours to fuel up. And I didn't disrespect the engine.

Their are very few contries in the first place in this field.

Sanctions including the most toughest sanctions in the entire world, in addition the cutting of government funding due to the current president Rouhani for the last 6 years or so.

What military in their right mind shows off a military satellite?

Of course Iran wasn’t going to show off a military satellite they are generally kept secret. And IRGC is much further along than university sector and public sector in military grade communications and technology so of course they wouldn’t rely on public sector to build a military satellite!

Im not sure what you mean by “fixed orbit”. This is a LEO satellite with some thrusters for movement. It is a small satellite probably less than 100kg in weight and most likely just testing some technologies. The real reason for the test was to test the 2nd stage performance.

The missile itself is unremarkable outside of the 2nd stage. Reason it succeeded was again because of more powerful 2nd stage that allowed the 3rd stage to reach necessary altitude for insertion. Safir and Simorgh have all failed at insertion.

Other than that it merely uses a Shahab-3 variant (Ghadr) first stage. Still way too weak an SLV. The current 2nd stage is at best a 3rd stage for a more powerful SLV.

Iran still needs a powerful 1st and 2nd stage if it ever wishes to launch GEO or ultra heavier satellites. The longer it takes for the bigger engines to be shown the more likely it is they are struggling to build large solid motors at Shahrud. It’s been 10 years since Tehrani’s death and the solid fuel program has largely been hit with setbacks.
Fixed in a circular orbit unlike the orbits of Omid or other sats the Safir SLV was capable of sending to orbit! Till now this was the 1st circular orbit Iran has achieved with a domestic SLV with a sat that's capable of staying operational for years rather than months.

If your apogee and perigee is too far off that close to the earth it's bound to effect your speed and that's what puts you in a degrading orbit

And IRGC achieved this using a smaller and cheaper SLV than the Safir and if you had listened to Haji Zadeh and read between the lines, this was nothing more than a test compared to what they have planed coming up in the coming months and years!
