BREAKING!!! Half of US troops to leave Afghanistan by May 1: Taliban

.
The thing i find most funny in this is, the same Taliban aka Mujahideen who gave a bloody nose to Soviets are now gathered between them in their country for the peace talks by the request of same lot who got a as$ beating so bad that it became one of the reasons of disintegration of Soviet Union.

Beshak waqt badalta hai.

.
I am sure many people in Afghanistan who actually care for their country have realized the importance of keeping good relations with Pakistan, China, Iran, Turkey, and CARs. Afghanistan's brief stint as a puppet state of US and India caused suffering, corruption, humiliation, and set Afghans back two decades.

It is time for Afghanistan to shine, and Pakistan and all other neighbors will be keen to prevent another war in this region.

Half of US troops to leave Afghanistan by May 1: Taliban

The Taliban claimed on Wednesday that the United States agreed in Doha to withdraw half its ground troops by the end of April — and the process had begun.

“The Americans agreed to withdraw half of their troops immediately. The withdrawal will start from February 1 and continue until end of April,” Abdul Salam Hanefi, deputy head of the Taliban's political office in Doha, told reporters in Moscow.

But US negotiator Zalmay Khalilzad has repeatedly stressed that “nothing is agreed until everything is agreed. 'Everything' must include an intra-Afghan dialogue and comprehensive ceasefire”.

The US has issued no details on any potential withdrawal plan.

The Taliban routinely exaggerate their attacks and details of other engagements, and NATO and Afghan officials deny the claims.

The Taliban entered a second day of unprecedented talks on Wednesday with powerful Afghan politicians in Moscow, sidestepping the Kabul government as it pursues a leading stake in the war-torn country.

The rare public appearance that kicked off a day before saw Taliban officials spell out their vision for Afghanistan in front of rolling cameras and a host of political heavyweights, including former president Hamid Karzai.

The insurgents went around President Ashraf Ghani and sat down with his chief rivals for an extraordinary meeting that saw Karzai and other sworn enemies of the Taliban praying with the militants.

No government official was invited, despite Ghani's offers to talk peace, underscoring the Taliban's hostility toward the increasingly marginalised Kabul administration.

The Moscow meet comes a week after the Taliban held separate talks toward ending 17 years of fighting with American negotiators in Doha, where Ghani was again not invited to the table.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday described those talks as “constructive” and voiced cautious hope for a negotiated end to America's longest war.

Ghani's allies in Washington insist Afghans should lead the peace process, and ostensibly the months-long push by the US to engage the Taliban has been aimed at convincing them to negotiate with Kabul.

A top US general also said that Kabul must be involved in talks if a push for a peace deal is to be successful.

“Ultimately, we need to get to a Taliban-Afghanistan discussion,” General Joseph Votel, the head of US Central Command, told US lawmakers.

“Only they will be able to resolve the key issues involved in the dispute.”

Ghani spoke with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo late on Tuesday, who had “underscored the central importance of ensuring the centrality of the Afghan government in the peace process”, the president said.

But Ghani has vented frustration at being relegated to the wings as his political enemies shared prayers and meals with the Taliban while discussing the future of his country.

'Nothing more than fantasy'
“The Moscow meeting is nothing more than a fantasy. No one can decide without the consent of the Afghan people,” Ghani told Afghan broadcaster TOLOnews.

“Those who have gathered in Moscow have no executive authority. They can say what they want, but who are they representing?”

Take a look: Kabul sees Taliban-Afghan opposition talks in Moscow as betrayal

The Moscow conference is the Taliban's most significant engagement with Afghan leaders in recent memory — and unique for the militants who banned television when they ruled Afghanistan between 1996 and 2001.

Their leadership is rarely seen in public and scenes of Taliban officials clad in black turbans outlining their manifesto for live television is virtually unheard of.

Before the Afghan envoys — including female delegates — the Taliban promised to loosen some restrictions on women and not seek a monopoly on power.

They have proposed an “inclusive Islamic system” of governance but demanded a new Islam-based constitution for Afghanistan.
And rest of them will either go to Kashmir or will be sent hell by Afghan people.

.
They can go to their Mexican border and guard it for all I care. They need to get out from our neighbourhood and region asap.

When the likes of BBC is interviewing Taliban , you know something is cooking.
Pity... i was teaching my boy for some target practice.....

His time is up and he knows it. Trying to salvage some last minute support from his financiers, but it’s useless.

And rest of them will either go to Kashmir or will be sent hell by Afghan people.

They will come back to the US to deal with the increasing internal problems like the rising prison population, detention of immigrant children and families, and policing minority neighborhoods.

US is imploding on itself and they can no longer afford these expensive missions in other countries with minimal gain.

India should have seen this coming from the beginning when the US ditched Pakistan.

. . .
Not really. If they are truly "fed up", they would have done complete withdrawal, not just half....and certainly not replace the half thats going with other (less command chain needed) ways to accomplish things on the ground where needed.

US 4 star General (theatre level i.e CENTCOM) I believe spoke on this just recently. He sees it completely different to most members here....I wonder who has better perspective on it?

Let us give some time for the situation to evolve and become evident.

The strategy seems to be for Pakistan to give its assurances that the region will not be used for an attack on USA again and for them to take over their traditional influence again. USA seems to be inclined in this direction, but with certain safeguards to be built into the system, and those are being worked out.

Only if yanks have not acted like cowboys and negotiated the UNICOL deal back then, so many deaths and misery and many years later we wouldn't have come back full circle.

Taliban are offering yanks to come and build their country as investors, not as occupiers.

As Churchill said, Americans can always be relied upon to do the right thing, but only after trying everything else. :D

That's how you made the "Indian puppets", by interfering in our country The more you do, the more Indian agents will be made Keep shooting your self in the foot.

.
we wont be having any other option but to interfere in afghan affairs. your govt and forces are too incapable and corrupt to control your country and poverty is there so the locals will be more inclined to work for RAW for getting some money in return for their "namak harami". if your govt and military stops working for indian interests against pak and controls your country well we dont need to interfere in your country at all.

Isnt it you who is shooting yourself on foot by becoming Indian puppets. Who is worse off? Your country fate is decided among your occupiers and the group you call Pakistani puppets, the Talibans. Do you even know your place in all this?

We still don't recognize the border

Tell you a secret, we don't recognize Durand line in all the practicality as well. We see our borders way further inside Afghansitan, aleast to the Pakhtoon heartlands.

Atleast we agree on something.

strange , here we see complete contrast of two nation theory .muslims can't live with muslims ?

You are getting dumb and dumber with each passing day don't you?

Do they not teach you in your Indian history books that two nation theory was for the people living within subcontinent?

Big win for President Ghani

Can you say that with straight face? He and his puppet so called Afghan establishment is have fits these days to see them sidelined in talks with Talibans, as if they are nobody.

By the same coin, India has more Muslims than the whole of Pakistan, Pakistan has no claim to Kashmir.

The Indians Muslims are of all sorts of stocks. Here we are talking about one ethinicty, the Pakhtoons. Hell. there are more Pakhtoons in Karachi then in Kabul, and Karachi is not even in KPK!!

That's what the past empires came for, a chicken fiest. However, now we have learnt from the 90s, we'll have regional stake holders and international guaranteers. Our decision to side with India is the only choice.

Seems like you have not learned anything. The present situation you find yourself into is because of that wrong choice that northern alliance Kabul regime made in post 9/11. And now perhaps everyone have learned their lessons and you are not allowed to have any choices or make decisions on the future of Afghansitan where Pakistani puppets aka Talibans, and Afghan occupiers, America are sitting together and deciding about the future of Afghanistan.
