Bombay Bakery: 100 years and going strong

People should think too much about such places being spic and span. Or you will be missing out on experiencing something good. Like those for street food, the rules are simple. Stick to food that the establishment is famous for. Dont order schezwan in a kebab house. . Go where the crowds go. As long as its hot, its OK.

.
You out of your old habit of 'appearing to be nice while harboring malice' had to find something which takes away from the feel good factor of the thread. Obviously, this is your standard mode where everything American is automatically right (vouching for Christine Fair without following her work) and everything Pakistani has to have something wrong with it.

I feel sad for you, sad for you can never be truly happy with this duplicitous life you live.

Start with this: 14 menu items fast food workers confess they would never order | Fox News

I managed to find a link from your favorite source of information as well. :D

So is there a Bombay Bakery in USA? Celebrating an iconic bakery in Pakistan - the topic of this thread - without any photos of its kitchen would be incomplete. (Or you could compare it to a field kitchen in South Sudan and declare it top class by comparison.)

.
So do we accept the status quo and settle for "good enough for the third world" or ask for improvements? Have we not learnt anything from Mr. Arjumand Hussain's efforts ? Any comments @Oscar ?

The gentleman is a hospitality grad from the US and managed a lot of hotels, and once at dinner with him he took his managers to task just for a small stain on a fork. He would have taken these guys to hell for such standards.

Can you please tell us that is indeed patriotic to demand better standards and service.

That depends on national mentality. See, patriotism is a very vague line and is generally the best refuge for all regressive thoughts as well. So I would not say it is patriotic, but rather it is progressive and humane to demand better hygiene.
There is a nostalgia for "dirty" things in these third world nations and one can see it when they banter about things not tasting as good in hygenic enviornments; but there is a balance of developed immunity and blatant invitation to disease and filth. These ideals of "leaving it be" are the latter.
Im sure many people would be averse to using toilet paper after they wash their bottoms because water is enough.. who cares if there is a piece of fecal matter that got stuck between their arse hair.

Ouch. As long as this guy does not go on to bake cakes!

'Glazed' is one of Dhaka's premier gourmet donut places and is donut artistry personified - beats Krispy Kreme by miles.

Mangolicious is a perfect combination of Mango filling, Mango slices, Pomegranate seeds and Glazed signature chocolate. Perfect 'Bengali' flavor for the Bangla Pahela Boishakh (first day of Bengali new year)!

Holey Artisan Bakery - I'd say one of _the_ best places to practice true art of world-class baking in South Asia.

Sticky buns made with Brioche dough, and stuffed with loads of cinnamon, home made butterscotch, toasted walnuts, and fresh dairy butter.

the Bombay bakery cakes looks awful -
the Karachi bakery got some style-

For some reason I like the old feel of the Bombay bakery more than the modern look of Karachi Bakery.

Check the new Karachi store that they opened- looks modern and contemporary. Maybe it appeals to the modern generation.

Thanks! Quite Nice :-)

However the decor won't really work in our corner of the world (Bengalis like understated and muted colors).

But more power to you guys....:toast_sign:

Is there a food thread on pdf?

I have a Dhaka restaurant thread here with Sehri and Iftar items,

Restaurants in Dhaka

There are also numerous Pakistani cuisine and restaurant threads in this section of the forum.

Haven't seen Indian restaurant threads but I could be wrong.
