Lockheed Martin is right contender to win this. Because they have good experience in fighter platforms.
Best examples :-F-16, F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II. You can also count A-10 Thunderbolt II. Transport Aircrafts like the C-130 J Super Hercules. Best Helicopter platforms like The H-60 Black Hawk and CH-53k

But they didn't design a decent trainer yet, i think Northrop will win

The T-50A is purpose-built around 5th Generation thinking. The F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II, have advanced capabilities that have never been available before. Advanced pilot training is the key to taking advantage of them. There is no more effective or affordable way than the T-50A to train the next generation of pilots to fly, fight and win.

The T-50A delivers the fighter-like performance and capabilities needed to eliminate 5th Generation training gaps and inefficiencies. The T-50A builds on the proven heritage of the T-50. There are more than 150 T-50s flying today—200,000 flight hours and counting—and the airframe has already trained more than 1,800 pilots.

Capabilities
As the leader in 5th Generation development, Lockheed Martin, in partnership with Korea Aerospace Industries, brings the experience and leadership to support the next generation of pilots.
Seamless Transition into 5th Generation Fighters
The T-50A is easy to fly—similar to the F-16, F-22, and F-35—which helps avoid negative training and unnecessary sorties. The T-50A creates better pilots, in less time, for less cost by enabling student pilots to focus their airmanship skills on improved aero performance, digital flight controls/fly-by-wire, with NextGen air traffic management systems, while operating from an anthropometrically designed 5th Generation cockpit.
Downloading / Offloading for Cost-Effectiveness
The Republic of Korea Air Force’s training experience has shown that the new training system yields a better fighter pilot in less time with fewer sorties and lower cost. The T-50 training program has reduced the number of required flights in the KF-16 to only nine sorties. The Ground-Based Training System contains an array of innovative technologies to provide options for “offloading” aircraft training tasks into the simulation environment.
Built-In Mission Flexibility
The T-50A aircraft configuration is based on South Korea’s FA-50, which is currently in production. The FA-50, the most advanced version of the T-50, incorporates air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons, along with an avionics suite that contains an electronic warfare suite, a multi-mode radar and an advanced data-link.

Ground-Based Training System (GBTS)
Proven. Lockheed Martin’s T-50A ground-based training system applies lessons learned from decades of training with leading-edge technologies.
Low Risk. Lockheed Martin is an industry leader in training solutions. We can deliver immersive, synchronized ground-based training systems that maximize training effectiveness and reduce costs.
Ready for Next Gen. The agile T-50A ground-based training system is focused on training the next generation of pilots to command next-generation aircraft.

Sustainment
Integrated Logistics Support – and a Growing, Global Support Initiative
The T-50A team brings together extensive experience in world-class, worldwide logistics support of its products. Korea Aerospace Industries, Lockheed Martin, General Electric and an international supplier network stand ready to provide all aspects of support for the T-50A training system.

Support includes logistics planning, site surveys, base- and depot-level repair shops, spares provisioning and replenishment, support equipment, electronic technical manuals and portable maintenance readers. It also includes technical services, logistics management and future upgrade programs, plus maintenance technician training and training equipment. The result: Individual customer needs are readily accommodated.

Lockheed Martin logistics and sustainment solutions deliver performance reliability and support the full life cycle of our customers’ platforms and products, ensuring relevant capabilities and mission excellence at the lowest total cost.

First and only supersonic trainer by LM and don't forget it is joint product with KAI not 100% US property

So Lockheed Martin can compare their offering vs planes they know nothing about.
Classic example of Marketing BS...

.
What you included Tejas MK 2 and JF-17 blk 3:lol::hitwall::hitwall: they are not supersonic trainers but fully developed single seat light fighters sir:rofl::rofl:

There are so many fanboys here that want to vote for their aircraft, LOL.

And SAAB has experience in developing trainer aircraft and training simulators.
They can use the datalink from the simulator.
Probably a lot more experience than LM.

Boeing F-15, F/A-18, Gripen, Boeing Vertol/Chinook.
Seems fairly similar.

F-35 is not exactly something giving a good reputation for project management,
while Gripen E is exactly on time.

.
I think Boeing/SAAB will win for political reasons. F18 is going to get retired, f15 will get retired. Northrop has Stealth Bomber contract and will probably have future bomber monopoly, Lockheed has f35 with massive problems and congress hates them. Tejas/JF17, US will NEVER buy large contract international aircraft models over domestic. Raytheon/
Aermacchi, Raytheon the radar/microwave/misslie company, and an Italian company? No chance, the airplane looks ugly compared to other models and is a Russian design, and Raytheon has no/little aircraft experience, so no. Textron, maybe, but looks like small company and probably weak lobbying power. Textron's aircraft, the airland scorpion is also only a subsonic trainer. Which is likely unacceptable. Boeing needs the contract the most, so they will likely win.

.
Could anybody explain to me about similarity of boeing T-X and Shafagh trainer jet!?

Boeing said they left enough room in the design to up-gun the platform into an aggressor fighter, but I think someone is thinking about going a few steps further and turning it into a lightweight fighter. There's still a market out there (of Western - including U.S. - fighter users) that can't access the F-35 for one reason or another, but a new lightweight 4.5+ gen fighter? Maybe.

market is crowded with 4th gen fighters. 2nd hand f16s are probably better deal.
