Blinken says US will assess Pakistan ties over Afghanistan's future

They will not put God forbid Sanctions on Pakistan right?

Let them try their last arrow in their armoury and we can go against their interests the places they can't imagine and lit fires they won't have enough fire engines to extinguish them. Behaviours and manners are not one sided any more.

Agreed.
Blinken has to say some nasty things about Pakistan because for the last many years, from Obama through the Trump Presidency, Pakistan has been demonized; that's to appear credible/balanced to the Congress. But compared with those years' criticism of Pakistan, there is now an eerie, measured quiet about Pakistan in the Biden admin. It's like we can't give Pakistan credit for the immense role Pakistan played in the American exit from Afghanistan and we can't blame Pakistan for Afghanistan like we used to. But I digress.

I think it is still too early to say what's in American mind in the post Afghanistan exit era. And I had indicated some strategic directions America could take now, in another thread that I had opened last night; that thread is wrongly moved to the 'Americas' forum. It should be at least in the 'World Affairs' forum because of global implications. Oh well.

PS. A Pakistani You Tube blogger Abdul Qadir who seems to know a few things said that Pakistan has firmly decided to tell America that don't even bother coming to us to talk if you expect 'Do More'. He Pakistan will not join any 'block' of any kind. The only thing non-negotiable in international relations for Pakistan is that ties with China will not be compromised.

A pragmatic and constructive way to move Pak-US relations forward is two fold. Pakistan should hold the Taliban accountable to its commitments because Pakistan should NOT have to bare the consequences of a humanitarian crisis caused by the intransigence of an Afghan government that can’t be bothered to form a government that the world is willing to deal with. (They need women, former regime members and more minorities in their government, at least to save face amd find a way to move on from the war; they need to accept advise from Qatar on women’s rights.)

secondly, the Talibs should allow transit trade through their country to Central Asia for all that recognize them including western countries and even allow investment, so the west can not feel China and Russia benefits fully from these developments. It will allow them to remain independent of the Chinese and Russians, so its win win for them and the west, and in a way if they want to deal with the world they have to all the world to deal with them. No one can be made to feel they “Lost” this war, that is a dangerous and unproductive thing.

The US’ build back better world should get its own “parallel” corridor through Pakistan to Central Asia; so the US sees Pakistan supporting free trade, a core value of the international setup.

biggest mistake they have in their assumptions is that they are dealing with a legacy gov of pito nawj and Zadari
Well nawaz sharif and zardari will be back in 1-2 years
And so will be drone attacks
Noone cares what happens in KPK or balochistan as long as no drones in lahore
When was the last time Pakistan placed a billion dollar deal with US for weapons ?
In 1990s And in 2006

I think the pressure on the Taliban might be becoming insurmountable: Qatar and even Pakistan is not recognizing them unless some basic requirements are fulfilled. And so Taliban are not shy to say 'interim' about their current govt in place. I don't have any kids but an analogy could be shoving bland oatmeal down a toddler's throat!

Luckily, Maula Jat is not in charge of Pakistan's policies. :D

LOL, HAHA, so true! I'm sure Pakistan would do fine. It needs to increase it's foreign diplomacy like crazy.
We got what we wanted. The Americans have zero leverage now.

That my friend.....is totally off reality. The Americans are in your country today trying to talk about FATF and how to get you guys out of it. The sky rocketing dollar, the status reduction from emerging markets to a level below and more than anything, access to the American market for businesses in Pakistan to grow. Indians have learned the game. Try to always give a positive message of friendship and how to work together. It works with the West.

Look, half the world got sanctioned dealing with Iran. India, without making too much noise, is doing billions of trade with Iran while there are sanctions!! There is a lesson in that. Positive message for a better Pakistan.

Exactly, Our kids are celebrating on Taliban power surge, but let's postpone the celebration. Something is cooking behind the scene. Let's wait and see the outcome of growing pressure. It seems US still holding all the cards.

Nothing wrong with Pakistanis feeling better about the Taliban ascendancy! The Taliban couldn't be any worse than the 'democratically elected govt of Afghanistan' whose President, Vice President, Defense Minister and what not ran away! They couldn't be any worse than Indian agents having a free reign inside Afghanistan for decades to do whatever they wanted inside Pakistan through a long, porous border!
The pressure on the Taliban exerted by Qatar and Pakistan and possibly others is to make the Taliban be more pragmatic. The Taliban were refusing women education in their earlier tenure beyond first few grade, if at that, but now are allowing women to get at least a 4 year college degree, even if gender-segregated! But more is need for for international 'recognition' and aid.

The Americans are desperate and back to their deceitful ways. Pakistan doesn't have to choose anymore. We have a reliable and strong ally China. The US should continue to suck up to India.

These kind of statement will not effect Pakistan on FATF right?

Am sure yesterday's Maula jat couldn't have done much better if his hands were tied behind his back that was 80's or 90's era. World have moved on from those good old times and US is finding it out countries are willing to eye ball the yesterday's super power.
Even kids these days need and want their own space and if they are provoked they will stand up and are counted never mind countries. War on terror have ran its course and sooner or latter its going to come to its grinding end. If you don't agree or toe the Western line, game of branding them terrorist or else hit them with the sanctions can't go on for long. World is going through new Covid era and like the aftermath of World war II economies of the West are in debt to their eyes balls and they can't afford any more conflicts. Sooner or latter new brain child QUAD is going to be water down as its not sustainable. Any expensive conflict and Western economies are going to crumble like USSR fell apart and West is not that silly to go into the history books yet.

We will see how far the Americans are willing to take their loss.

According to the Americans we are supposedly the reason for their humiliating loss in Afghanistan. You are worried about my statements LOL How about man up a little and stop shivering. Pakistan survived an onslaught for 20 years. The Americans have already sanctioned Pakistan before. Nah, I think a strong nuclear power like Pakistan with the backing of China will survive the worst.

Blah blah blah. We wil see. The same old BS we have heard for a full 2 decades. Pakistan was supposed to be non-existent by now according to most of your US/NATO generals LOL As each general came and went deadlines were given about the end of Pakistan. It never happened. Now you are hiding behind FATF and what not. All boogeyman stuff.

Zero fvck was given to the US and its cronies. We survived US treachery for 20 years and became battl-hardened. We are much wiser and we know what a backstabbing snake America really is. America won't get any respect. This country has played all sides and is now acting like a pathetic victim.

Pakistan won't waste any time with the US. Pakistan is focused on region and CPEC. As far as I am concerned, Pakistan has already done the impossible. First it became a nuclear power against all odds and defied all expectations. A cardinal sin in the eyes of the Western powers. Now we are working for regional connectivity with China which is again a thorn in the eyes of Western powers. Did we give a fvck or backtrack despite Western threats, pressures and lies? We went ahead and did the necessary. Pakistan's commitment towards achieving its goals cannot be questioned. We do what we say.

I don't know what you are expecting from Pakistan, but it won't happen. Pakistan won't sacrifice its interests because some irrelivant powers across the ocean want to play their little games in our backyard. American puppy India has been kicked out of Afghanistan. No more terror bases for puppy India. That is all that matters.

Let's wait and see just how your dire predictions come true. Or not.
Is this a worry a congressman of USA has said we are funded ISIS-K and Bliken did not give direct answer. Can this be a worry for Pakistan FATF?

Never confuse Congressional political theatrics such as these for actual US policies.
