Biryani: Hindu or Muslim ?

Biryani is a dish native to South Asia. The various variations of Biryani is a legacy of the Mughal's. Obviously (for instance) Hyderabadi biryani is native to Hyderabad.

Anyway there are plenty of similar dishes in the Middle East. In Arabia/Arab world there is Kabsa, Mandi, Maqluba to just mention a few. All well-known dishes as well.

I am sure that there are similar dishes native to Horn of Africa, Turkey (possibly but not sure) and Iran.

After all a mixture of rice, meat, (seafood included in the Arabia/Arab world) various spices and herbs, vegetables, yoghurts, sauces etc. is not really a groundbreaking invention.

As far as I am aware the method of cooking (the meat in particular) is what makes the flavor of dishes like mandi, kabsa, maqluba etc.

This pulao dish is it similar to the Uzbek pilaf? I once tried that in KSA (one of the largest Uzbek diaspora communities in the world live in KSA) when visiting an Uzbek restaurant. It was OK (too blend for my tastes) but I prefer kabsa, mandi, maqluba as well as biryani etc.

Which region makes the best biryani in Pakistan?

In KSA for instance the Najdis are making the best kabsas, Hijazis the mandis and the Shamalis the maqluba. Is there such a thing in Pakistan as well or is there a traditional recipe that most people follow regardless of region and ethnicity? I started becoming more and more interested in cuisine lately and you have no idea how varied regional cuisine can be. I am sure that the same is the case with Pakistan.

I'm no expert but it differs from regions, but then even from households. There are standarized recipes though.

I like chicken karahi very much. Tried it a few times.

BTW try improvising when cooking. I was illiterate (when it came to cooking) not that long ago but now I occasionally enjoy cooking various Arab and non-Arab dishes. I never would have believed that. Food tastes better if you make it yourself as well.:lol:

It's called yakni pulao or broth pulao. You use the broth of the meat you cook and put it into the rice. Turns out heavenly.

I wish it was Lamb but there was a lil chicken left, still with chicken it taste delish :cheesy:

Ofcourse but help raises awareness of agricultural stupidity of the country.

It is just the system, with poor logistics coupled with mini-monopolies, but it works as designed to benefit the few at the cost of the many.
