The last i know is NE native people abominate the immigrants there.

We have to just let the NE tribals free for a few days and all the Bangladeshis will be kicked back in no time.

what about 20 or 40 million bangladeshis that your radical hindu politicians kept on ranting... do you think they are there just for fun ... n go n check the demography of assam ... bengalis with bangladeshi origin (not necessarily they came from bangladesh but from this area their ancestors came in the last couple of century) and the muslims are about to be majority there... as they are oppressed and the radical hindu politicians are more alienating them by calling them illegal and ranting and oppressing against them... at certain point they will claim independence and you know it very well no one can or will be able to keep any one under control by force...

Do not forget we muslim people made you civilized as before your ancestors used to roam naked in many occasion around 10th 12th centuries and were involved with many inhuman activities... but still let your ancestor to keep your religion, culture and heritage... unlike the british who with intention to convert the hindus even manipulated your religious scripture "Bhabisya purana" which still many missionary use for converting hindus...

Islam allows to people of other religion to practice their religion but forbid to participate in rituals which allow polytheism ... I am not fully sure whether holy is associated with worshiping any statue or polytheism ... if so then muslim must stay away from it... at least to participate in it directly..

Actually India trained the irregular Mukti Bahinis. These were mostly students, professionals, farmers etc. India trained another group known as "Mujib Bahini",a creation of RAW, these are the Awami League cadres. Mujib Bahini was actually used to put down insurgency in Mizoram. The regular forces had professional soldiers somewhere between 10-20k ( if someone has an exact number, please post it). Which were increased to about 30k.

As far as occupation goes, I doubt it would be easy for India. BD is full of rivers and canals. Logistics can be a nightmare during the monsoon seasons. Back in those days there were barely any bridges, and most were destroyed.

I really doubt India had any such intentions. Taking on 65-70 million people just doesn't make any sense. Also even with the treaty with USSR, I doubt USSR would let India to make that move, the USSR is not going to underwrite joy rides. Friendship treatys has its perks and also limitations. BD had one of those with India. Basically big brother dictates the terms.

India hauled away all the military equipment as spoils of war. I don't want to get into other stuffs that were hauled away too. There was nothing to gain other than a country full of people ravaged by a war and totally pissed off.

Again, we are talking about an army of more than half a million trained soldiers, thousands of tanks and artillery, and practically infinite times more powerful airfoce and navy (The nascent Bangladesh Air Force had no fighters and Navy had no warships, just some patrol boats) who were present inside the country and had known every inch of it.

You failed to provide me an answer to my earlier question. What Indian Army brass would have gained by looting ceing fans and taps.
And IIRC, the tanks captured by army from West Pakistan were never pressed into service, so again what kind of military hardware we are talking about as Bangladesh had none.
