Both Orthodox and Reformed Jewish sects accept converts into Judaism, but the convert, as a righteous gentile, must prove his or her intent by undergoing Aliyah. Those who are converting must study , and understand Hebrew, must understand the Mitvot, and live it judiciously and not perfunctory. You are right that Reformed Jews tend to be more accepting to 'righteous gentiles' who are interested in converting, as compared to the more conservative groups, but one has to understand that it is based on their Halakhic perspective.

Btw, there are a lot of similarities between Reformed Judaism and Islam.

I don't care about his political insensitivity. I initially followed him for his political views. I found him to be very foul-mouthed and uncouth, but he provided a counter to the foul-mouthed, uncouth people at Fox News. I watched him mostly as entertainment (political boxing).

What I object to is the fact that he is not balanced in his criticism of religious fanaticism. It's fine if he bashes Christian and Muslim fanatics, as long as he applies the same standards to Jewish fanatics.

It is because of the fact that he shows favoritism to Jewish fanatics that I am pointing out his Jewish links.

And, no, you didn't understand the point about Religulous. Maher specifically mentioned the Israel/Palesitne conflict and blamed Muslim fundamentalists. An intellectually honest and informed reader -- which rules YOU out -- would have demanded that Maher show the fanaticism on the Jewish side which supports Israel.

He did not. Which was to be expected, given his bigotry and bias.

If Maher say he is a Catholic, which he was raised as, then Maher is a Catholic regardless of what Jewish religious laws says. Maher was ignorant of his mother's ancestry until his teenage yrs.
