China provided the ideological foundation, the economic assistance, and the military training. Overall, China quite literally made NKR the way it is today. So please spare everyone the crocodile tears about leaving the Korean people to their country. China could have done that at the end of WW II, just as China could have left Viet Nam alone at the end of WW II. Considering how SKR turned out, we would have been better for the entirety of Korea instead of the sorry half that is the North.

N.Korea is sovereign and independent. China does not station troops in N.Korea, nor does it dictate N.Korea action. N.Korea is a headache to China only if you see the relation as that of a colonial one, and that's where the root of the problem lies, not in China's relationship with N.Korea, but in how the US view such relationship.
