BBC reporter faces calls to resign after comment at Paris rally

The APS reopening was covered by just about every major media outlet, not just BBC.

(Anybody can Google it! :D )

Exactly why I reminded everyone of editorial policies and how they affect the topic of this thread. :D
Exactly and by doing so what are you attempting to do? Effectively shut down a discussion ? But I thought we have "freedom of speech" hay rabba, an kya ho ga kaka?

Such as?

People need to not just use Google, but be able to comprehend how editorial policies and guidelines can affect what a reporter may or may not say on the job.

I am saying be safe than sorry...

I asked a question I read in some article why people draw something they dont know or know will hurt someone? Why provoke?
This is why people like you received so much eyes-rolling.

So what if it is stupid to provoke ? We are not talking about provoking an animal where it is ruled by instincts and not rational thoughts. If I poke at a hornet's nest, then I deserved to be stung.

But we are talking about human beings who create provocative ideas. Islam, like all religions, are provocative. Early Christianity challenged/provoked Judaism. Today's Mormons challenged/provoked mainstream Christians. Marxism challenged/provoked democrats. And the list of provocative ideas goes on and on...

So if there is a provocative idea, there will be those who will challenge/provoke in return, whether the challenger is a priest from the other religion or a cartoonist who challenge/provoke everyone.

I can also ask: Why create Islam when Muhammad do not know his new religion will hurt someone ?

Well there goes your freedom of speech.

you cannot say anything against jew and Israel, some countries have laws against it and you will end up in jail, which is fine by me, no one should say anything about any religion but the problem is French govt was giving funds to Charlie Hebdo to keep them in circulation.

Not really, give people the information and let them make up their own minds. By guiding people down a selected route of thinking you are effectively trying to kill off any discussion that may oppose your narrative.

Give a man a fish, or teach a man to fish.... The choice is yours my young Padawan.

@Akheilos You are being way too emotional and missing the points I was trying to make.
Am I? Am I the one who had to bring in children?
Expressing your opinions by drawing cartoons in West is something as normal and as ordinary as going to school in Pakistan. So you can't advice neither not to do so by saying something like "better safe than sorry".
If it is ordinary then why hush away those about Jews and Israeli bombing? is that not worthy to be drawn attention to? Or what about BOKO HARAM or any other extremist?

I have no problems with the cartoons...
1stly I dont understand Danish nor French so this being about me is overrated as a pathetic excuse to wanting to make it personal!

Heck I was prob one of the 1st to say my sentiments are not effected! I had thanked some of the cartoons!

But do I think the cartoonists did right? NOPE! Why? Coz we all saw what happened after the Danish cartoons ...too much rubbish that shouldnt be replicated by any sane person!

But do I know for a fact that some moron WILL attack such cartoonists? 99% yes ...we all do!
So if I warn the cartoonists or dont agree with them in an attempt to reduce the "consumer demand" is that siding the opposite? ONLY in the minds of a backward person maybe!

By the way, please use less capital letters and don't get personal. Thank you.
Capital letters are for emphasis! :tsk:

What are those laws ?

I am merely providing the facts relevant to the discussion, that is all. A discussion that ignores relevant facts may be cathartic, but not very fruitful.

.
There were talks of a Law being presented in Canadian house to make it a crime to speak against Israel, dont know if it was passed or not.
In other words, you have no idea of what you are talking about.

And Terrorist are rational? Lovely! Then why does FBI have dont negotiate with rational beings?

I see the eyes rolling now
:agree:

None of that challenge JESUS if he slept with Madeline or not try bringing that in ;)

THAT would be real provocation!

Whom did it hurt? :pop:
Maybe the question can be equally posed to Christianity?
Why did Jesus call himself god that hurt the Jews soo much they crucified him!

What about Judaism? Give up your cow idol for 1 god of Abraham?

The fruits of ones labours come from tilling the soil that is rich and welcoming. When you have an acerbic approach to varying views and opinions and simply choose to label a group of people who's opinion or world view differs from you as "mini me" are you encouraging discourse or are you propagating the language of hostility and upmanship?

Are we back in the school playground?

" meri mama ney mughey lemon tart lunch box mey dia hain, tum to adna Parartha khatey hoo". Tumhey kya pata lomon tart ka kya maza hain!

The problem is, the other guy may be eating the anda paratha but he knows more about humility than lemon tart burger boy ever will.

Stop labelling and judging people, you want to champion free speech, allow people to air their views.

Don't shut down a debate with intellectual bullying, won't work, you will end up looking like a insecure twit.

:agree:
Of course terrorists are rational actors. Just because their beliefs are extreme, that does not mean HOW they came to that extreme were irrational. You should roll your eyes at your own bad argument.

You think people have not presented that ?

Whom did it hurt? :pop:

It hurts the Christians' and the Jews' feelings.

Remember, YOU were the one who argued that it is stupid to hurt Muslims' feelings. But now you think your Islam is not provocative to Christians and Jews especially when Islam said Jesus is nothing but a prophet ? By saying Jesus is only a prophet and not the Son of God is insulting. But I guess it is fine if Muslims insults, right ?
