The question is not whether or not his statement was accurate but whether it warrants the calls for him stepping down that solomon2 referred to.

If he had asked why are ''muslims killing and enslaving yazidis'' at a rally to remember some palestinian civilian victims he would have faced criticism from sections of audience too. As long as that criticism and protest is peaceful I fully support their right to do so.
