Bangladesh to build 3600MW LNG-run power plant at Payra

Congrats to B.D, energy is the next key of success learn from Pakistan we ditched biggest hydro project Kala-bagh and now living in dark with much expensive electricity.

All in good time brother.

Don't lose hope. Things will happen Insha-Allah.
Once CPEC kicks in, things will happen in rapid succession.

Damned if I know - I've been looking up DP Rail since last year and have yet to find anything that gives me confidence in their ability to consult on a project costing billions.

They have people who have worked in the rail industry and have held very senior posts, but that doesn't mean they can now properly deal with a project of this magnitude. I'm sure, we'll hear they are being replaced at some point and a company with experience will be brought in.

I'm surprised the Chinese didn't lobby for one of their own consulting firms.

Well DP Rail simply means Dhaka-to-Payra Rail. The company was formed at the inception of the project so all funds paid to it could be siphoned back to the sponsors, whoever they are in the administration.

These people _may_ be involved (just a hunch),

1. Tulip Siddique - Hasina' niece and a junior politician in Great Britain.
2. Tulip's husband Christian Percy

But let's not discuss these political items on this thread (it may be off topic). Let's open a separate thread if you want to discuss.

I am no hater of Hasina 'per se' but intrigue is what it is, we love to smell these things.... :-)

Current BD demand is 10GW.
What is your base assumption to calculate the present demand of power at 10 GW? This what BD is already is producing and it is not the demand. In average, a country with a mid level economy will require 1 GW for 300,000 homes. So, a 10 GW power will lighten only 3,000,000 houses. So, BD needs at least 100 GW of power to lighten all the houses. Demand is always there for this quantity. But, the consumers are discouraged to use it because of shortage of supply due to low power production at 10 GW now.
