Pakistan is a lost cause, beyond any hope if i concur frankly . Their willingness to invest more toward sunkhole called military expenditure is beyond reason and truly worrysome actually. They actually failed to invest more toward education, health and good governance sector (reformation in civil sector), at long terms it will be India and Bangladesh to dominating economic activities in much South Asia. The only saving grace of Pakistan is they had already placed infrastructure in transportation, logistic, energy and some heavy industry leftover from their robust Economic activities during 60's to 80's decaded but without robust private sector (in which the growth will be halted because of their failed investment toward human sector of their country like health and education) their economy will be deteroriate any further.

@Nilgiri @django
Nah....CPEC will make Pakistan great again

Impossible for BD to maintain it's 7-8% growth when it hits India's current size.
4-5% a year growth at that size would be good
At least you accept the reality...
However expanding into information technology market could be the answer with research into AI etc

Posters harping off about BD per capita again. IMF has not calculated Pakistans per capita yet in nominal terms. In PPP per capita, Bangladesh is behind by quite a bit. I will tell you this, Just have a look at your dusty cities, bus terminal like airports and your road conditions and then compare them to Pakistan. You cannot even build a simple 4 lane road:lol:. Pakistan has a 6 lane expressway 4500 feet above sea level(That's an expressway higher than your highest mountain). Let's have a look at Dhaka's airport again, shall we? Compare your Chittagong to Lahore and the difference is daylights. We have already tested our Orange line train in Lahore where is Dhaka's Metro Train? Oh yes, it exists on paper:lol:.

Even our Mid-level city is better than your capital. To be Honest, am not surprised since BD is way more corrupt than Pakistan.

@Bilal9 bhai exactly.
And in Eid market even lots of the shop keepers of border districts go to west Bengal and buy cheaper cloths ( as part of their Eid selling stock) so they can sell with greater profit.

Economy of West Bengal is heavily dependant on us, and pdf indians love to ignore it.
But surely calculate shop keepers know this very well .

It is interesting that I mentioned a basic fact known to people for ages and then these trolls can't deal with it.

Is everyone in Bangladesh poor?

If trolls cannot prove that Bangladeshis are all poor (meaning poorer than Indians) then that is an issue? Modi magic and vedic economic principles are all proven wrong so it can't be right?

এই গিবস ও মনে হয় আরেক তামিল। তামিল ট্রল এ দুনিয়া ভরে গেসে।

W Bengal economy would collapse without the export market and vistors from the 300 US billion dollar BD economy.

Look mate i DO agree Pakistan will eventually over take BD economy. Because of more population, bigger land, more light skinned people:oops: etc. But at the moment our economy is doing better than your economy no question about that.your economy is not doing well because of many reasons. You have corrupt leaders, your women are not working. Your army ambition. You guys are fighting in Kashmir, Afghanistan and Balochistan.

Instead of making wild claims - please check on facts about Bangladesh, most of the claims you have made are not true.

Yup some Bangladesh infra still sucks (I'll be the first to admit it) but so did Taiwan's in the early 70's or Korea's in the 60's (similar stage of development).

And this practice of measuring schwanzes is a bit pointless.

I am happy that Lahore has a Metro and you have wonderful roads and airports. So are we supposed to be sad about this? It is what it is. More power to you.

End of the day Bangladesh still has 50 Billion dollars exports every year and we are happy we can feed our people.

We already have a bigger economy than you including per capita. Our people are already richer than you (Check credit swiss reports). Pakistan is the fastest growing retail destination in the world right now.

There is a reason why we have way more multinational companies than you do. Any foreign company that comes to South Asia invests in Pakistan first and BD later (Uber , Paypal , AUDI, McDonald's etc). It's obvious our consuming power is much more than yours.

Every day there are threads of BD overtaking Pakistan from your side. Come to Pakistan I will show you around in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi. Our Cities are 10-15 years ahead. BD's cities are not aesthetic at all. Its an ugly clusterfuck. Dhaka was even ranked the worst city on many occasions. If you can make a city like Islamabad by 2050 I will accept BD to be more developed.

What's the use of shiny airport and 6 lane highways when 42 percent of your population can not read and write? Vast majority of your population is not going to drive SUV on those expressways nor they are going to do holiday trip overseas using those new airport anytime soon. You be happy with those roads and airport, we think differently, govt. is thinking about universal pension in Bangladesh now.We will build highways and airports according to our need. We would rather utilize the existing system to it's fullest and then go for new things, in the meantime we will build more powerplant, LNG terminal, Rail tracks, sea ports, school, hospital, Industrial plants, IT parks etc. Your priority and our priority are different.

What is the point of "mak(ing) a city like Islamabad" and what would be the gain for Bangladesh? What would we achieve, jobs, better pay, more export orders? Other than bragging rights?

There are some nice neighborhoods in Dhaka too as I have posted in other threads. The claim that we cannot make a city look like Islamabad is rather immature. Maybe we can but what would it gain anyone? Have you looked at my Midrise architecture and urban development threads?

At this stage of our development - our cities WILL look (mostly) like clusterfucks. I have seen images and records of what Taiwan (Taipei, Taichung) and Korea (Seoul, Incheon, Busan) used to look like in the 60's and 70's and they were not pretty - there was lots of industrial and business activity going on. But money was being made.

Soooo- you have to choose between having cities that look like Islamabad OR having cities that look like Dhaka or Chittagong where there is revenue-earning export activity happening which will have pollution and horrible chaos like the early stages of China's industrialization.

Things will look UGLY for a while before enough money is made to make cities look prettier and more organized after industrialization moves to the next stage of higher value addition - and we are FINE with that. Call us any name you want for now.

More people in Pakistan have cars than BD so yes they will be driving on those expressways. 500 KM journey from Peshawar to Lahore takes few hours since driving is a pleasure on those roads. You are building Hospitals? Makes me wonder what those millions of people are doing in India for simple health check-ups.

Your Government does not think differently. Its one of the most corrupt in the world just check the Corruption Perception Index. Its 30 positions lower than Pakistan.

How about a good quality of life? There are 2 million people in Islamabad who enjoy a standard of living similar to the one in the west.

If you guys have trouble making a simple 4 lane road it's quite obvious you can't build a city. There is a reason why traffic in Dhaka is so horrendous because everything in your country is inside Dhaka and nowhere else. Compare Dhaka to Lahore (Population of 10 million). If I post pictures of Lahore you will have trouble keeping up because despite being a 10 million mega city its quite aesthetic in most of the areas. The roads are wide, its clean for a city of 10 million, well maintained by the local government and generates revenue/income at the same time. And above all most of the people in our cities live in nice big houses rather than cramped shady looking apartments like BD :). In people from lower middle class have open big houses rather the 1 bedroom apartments you guys live in.

Be happy with your roads and hospitals brother, just leave us where we want to be, as corrupt as we are.

I am happy that you consider Pakistan better than Bangladesh in most areas.
