Bangladesh Students Protest l Updates, News & Discussion

No one can object to the message of these kids, it is true and long overdue - but what is the point of breaking infrastructure, shutting down businesses, spreading chaos ... civil war?

We are playing into the hands of our enemies, who are watching gleefully from the sides.

If many people get their wish, BD will go back to square one - to start afresh with new 'pure' leaders and technocrats like in 71 - then we can wait 50 years just to come back to this same stage.

Sometimes I think BDeshis are our own worst enemies. If back to basics is what the people want, who can stop them?

Is there any evidence of students causing mass vandalism? I doubt it barring isolated incidents.

I would like students to stay in the streets until the government is forced to disband BCL and a new political movementand party rises out of it that can take part in the next election.

Please note that I am not advocating for downing the government, as it would lead to complete chaos, but rather subservience of BAL to people's demands.

.
I also think, now times has come to tone down this protest.7 day is enough. The govt. is shaken sufficiently.Neither the AL nor BNP will forget this week.Hope this will be the beginning to build a good and efficient public transport system across Bangladesh. Now govt. will be forced to take the public transport sector will real seriousness. If we get good public transport system in the next few years, then the sacrifice of those 2 students and this massive protest will become really fruitful.

Lot of problems in BD like this will be solved in due time as the transport infrastructure is being upgraded rapidly as we speak.

Wish the rumoured deaths and rapes did not happen but BD is the way it is and cannot see how you will solve this thuggery without many more years of social and economic development,

. . . . .
Some people will not like this but a few dead kids is a price that may need to be paid for the long term future of BD as a rich and sovereign country.
Typical awami thinking. Don't forget 69 and 90.
Every autocratic govt said same like you .

Give me ONE example....
Write down the names. It is all the countries except Bangladesh and a few African countries which is developing because of democracy. Bangladesh development is only in the newspaper. What development work you always talk about when a person has to walk in the streets in knee-deep water after a fifteen minutes of rainfall? Fix this and talk about development.

Dude, you are close to starting a 2 month ignore from me because of low-quality posting.:D

.
They developed first, then they became democratic.

Bangladesh can learn something from Pakistan here. We kicked out corrupt leaders and brought in a leader like Imran Khan who is a not corrupt and is a true patriot. Refused to take security protocols and opted for living in a very simple home to set an example for the rest. Bangladesh needs an alternate clean leader , but for that to happen your people need to vote for him which I don't see happening.

Dude, what has Imran Khan delivered so far as he has not had a single day in office yet?

No thanks but the best option for BD is the AL now, even with their thuggery and corruption.

BD growth in terms of electricity production, exports, infrastructure development, tax receipts and current military acquisitions is there in black and white for all to see.

You are talking like a hopeless person. this will never change. Where did you see last that school kids had to go through this much?? We elders were supposed to be there today. All our senior citizen can do is argue with one another in tea stall, local bus and family meeting as if they are saving the country by argument from corrupted leader, govt official, criminals. These kids just showed in 6 days how things could be, how system could really work well if we had strong will and honest leaders and officials.

Haha......ur post made me laugh.

He hasn't even passed one month as a prime minister and u already declared him as someone who's as pure as distilled water.

The province where we ruled (KPK) has improved immensely in Police, Tourism, health, Environment and Education. Can you imagine Sheikh Haseena initiating these steps like IK?

https://www.brecorder.com/2018/08/0...ide-in-pm-house-will-save-billions-of-rupees/

The next-in-line Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan’s decision of not living in Prime Minister House is said to save billions of Pakistani rupees annually.

Some Rs1.85 billion will be saved annually, as reported by Gulf News, which comprises Rs980 million in the security budget of the complex, while Rs700 million are allocated for PM House staff. Similarly, Rs150 million is spent annually on gifts for visiting dignitaries and guests, and Rs15 million on renovations and decoration, stated the report.

The cricket world cup winning captain-turned-politician has stated in a number of statements that he will neither stay in the PM House nor enjoy VVIP protocol after assuming office. During his first speech after victory in general elections, Imran also announced to covert the PM residence into a university.

Simply a lack of any real alternative in Bangladesh is the reason why there is no real change on the ground and like your posters said exists in newspapers only. In Pakistan, if one party doesn't perform we chose another party. I feel there is no political awareness in your country and the need to change its destiny by choosing somebody who is not corrupt.

Development of transport infrastructure in Dhaka will stop things like this happening in a decade from now.

I think the protest from these kids will have sent a message to AL of the boundaries they can work under and not to go too far.
