Bangladesh Navy is Purchasing Amphibious Transport Dock. BN is considering San Giorgio Class of Italy and Dokdo Class of South Korea

ডেইলি বিডি নিউজঃ শীঘ্রই বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীকে আধুনিক করার জন্যে ইতিমধ্যে একগুচ্ছ পরিকল্পনা নেওয়া হয়েছে। যার মধ্যে অন্যতম একটি পদক্ষেপ হল নেভির জন্যে “Amphibious Transport Dock” কেনার সীদ্ধান্ত। যা এই বছরের মধ্যেই চুক্তি হওয়ার কথা রয়েছে।

Amphibious Transport Dock হল এমন একধরণের যুদ্ধ জাহাজ যা নৌপথের মাধ্যমে এক জায়গা থেকে অন্য জায়গায় ( সেটা দেশের মধ্যে বা এক দেশ থেকে আর এক দেশেও হতে পারে) সেনা, আর্মড ভেহিকল বিশেষ করে ট্যাংক পরিবহণের কাজে ব্যবহৃত হয়।


এছাড়া এতে মিশন পরিচালনার জন্যে নিজস্ব হেলিকপ্টার রাখা ছাড়াও উঠানামার জন্যে ল্যান্ডিং স্পট ও এবং কিচ্ছু কিছু ক্ষেত্রে হেঙ্গার ও থাকে। অর্থাৎ সংক্ষেপে সেনা, যুদ্ধযান ও হেলিকপটার বাহী রণতরী।

জানা যায়, আপাতত বাংলাদেশ এরকম একটি জাহাজ কিনবে যা ২০১৮-২০১৯ সালের মধ্যে সার্ভিসে যোগদান করবে। ইতিমধ্যে ইটালি অফিসিয়ালি তাদের San Giorgio ক্লাস এর “Amphibious Transport Dock” বাংলাদেশ কে অফার করেছে। এছাড়া পছন্দের তালিকায় দক্ষিণ কোরিয়ার Dokdo ক্লাস ও আছে।

Dokdo-class এর Amphibious Transport Dock গুলো আকারে অনেক বড় এবং এর প্রতিরক্ষা ব্যবস্থাও তুলনামূলকভাবে San Giorgio ক্লাস এর চাইতে ভাল।

I seriously doubt this news. There are not enough capable combat vessels to provide it an escort, not to mention the state of our naval aviation. Plus our defense budget needs to be spent on more pressing matters, like getting new fighter jets.

I think the news got the type of ship wrong. My guess is that we might be getting more LCU(like bns shakti sanchar), which transports troops and vehicles over rivers and shallow coastlines.

since it has been out, I have some info for you.
The news is true. Bangladesh is Navy is going to purchase LHD by 2018-2019. Under force goal 2030, Bangladesh Navy is making Blue water Battle Group. By 2020 BD Navy is going to have 10 frigates and 4 submarines for Battle Group.

@bongbang that ShaktiSanchar type LC is for Army, and yes Army has its own plan about it, initial plan to 5 of this type of LC by 2020.

Bro,even if this kind of induction happens,you will see a LST or SSV at most.An Helicopter carrier is simply an overkill and unnecessary.

1.Deploying all your fleet at one task?? And you will certainly will have no other front/duty to cover?
2.Yes,exactly.It doesn't talk about purchase list.It talks about induction combat assets.Now a LCU ,LST or a hovercraft is also an amphibious asset.
