Bangladesh minister pushes for liquor tax cut to boost tourism

I like it mate!!!
Please don't do that and be my guest for a day.

main BD ki daru se acha zaher na pi loon

One think is sure there is huge alcohol consumption is going on in our society.
It is still a taboo though, it has changed a lot. In affluent society and in the lowest rung it is not an issue now.
I'd say BD needs to give license to more bars to sell alcohol. Make sure the bottles are opened in the bar and cannot be taken home. Also require identity check before selling alcohol.

Nobody comes to our country to drink liquor . His remarks will be a election issue by the opposition parties. We need improve security and easy communication for increasing foreign tourist. Just yesterday a German woman tourist lost her valuable belonging to hijacker.

Its not mishap but its deliberate. When people adulterate pure wine with spirit which may be sometimes mixed with methanol to make it nonconsumable. Methanol is poison.

The only thing go bad in home brew is contamination with bad bacteria and can end up with diarrhoea.

TBH its not worth it . alcohol is not expensive that we take risk in my country we can buy 500 rupees nice whiskey - drygin-vodka etc . so its not worth it dear .
paksitan have 4 companies produce alcohol

1-muree Brewery
2- indus Distillery
3-mehran Distillery & Brewery
4- quetta distillery

still people protest about alcohol prices are high and gov should reduce taxes

Don't know much about gin as its not my tipple, but was a hardcore vodka drinker for a bit (between my college rum and later whisky phase .... prior to my single malt, peated phase).

Try some Hendriks.. Chase with some quality tonic like Schweppes and a stick of cucumber in a tall glass.. You'll never go back.. Mind you Gin is a day drink

If you like peaty single malts go for Islay malts.. Bowmore, Laphroaig, Lagavulin comes to mind.. For me when it comes to single Malts the quality of Scottish water matters most, There's no alternative

Booze ain’t gonna do much if you don’t develop tourist attractions.
But perhaps you don’t want to tax booze at all, unless it’s a whiskey, vodka or cognac.

@Bilal9

the bestselling Amrut Fusion seems to have gone off the shelves for some time now here in India at least. Its been replaced by the equally nice Amalgam.

Priced around the same at Paul John, give or take a few hundred bucks here or there.

Cheers, Doc

Amrut guys should expand now that higher living standards in India allow many more connoisseurs to taste their offerings. :-)

My local stateside friend was looking for Indian single malts but then he's also partial to award-winning super smooth Japanese single malts which are sometimes more expensive than the scotch variety. The special bottle below is going for $300 a pop and reportedly super popular stateside. What an age we live in - Indian and Japanese single malts trumping that of Scotland. :-)

I better stop this discussion though - I have been accused in PDF of Tk.300 a cup tea-snobbery in Dhaka. :-)

Yamasaki is really good I hear. A biker puppy old friend of mine in Bombay who is now a top honcho in one of those technerdy internet startups and a Kellogg's alumnus had gotten a bottle recently. Much savored and quickly polished off. But yeah, very pricey. Japlas are first world. In everything.

Cheers, Doc

Do not please die early by food poisoning. I heard BD rats like that kind of Cholai drink. You can go to some places near Cox's Bazaar. Some tree juice is used as a drink, known something as 'Shom". It is bitter but will get you intoxicated. But, then you may have to rush for the toilet after a few sips. It is all tax-free.

ethanol is ethanol....
its same distiled from malt or from molases or from corn or rice.......
every brand or varity now a days has standerd 42.8%.

its same in a 100 rs desi santra or 3500 rs chivas....
the only difference is in the rest 57.2% which cantain flavor . color and water mixed with herbs...thats made a brand and price..
but you are not drinking it for flavor . color or herbed water...
