What's new

Bangladesh formally joins UN treaty on prohibition of nuclear weapons

Yes.

For now it is not a good time for BD to withdraw from NPT as it will encourage Western sanctions and BD is economically and militarily quite weak. Also India may strike at BD nuclear facilities with BD able to do little to deter and defend itself.

When the world is multi-polar and BD is stronger economically and militarily(circa 2030) then BD can safely withdraw with little blowback.
You are just paranoid about India attacking BD. Its never gonna happen unless BD gets radicalized and tries harbouring terrorist groups. Otherwise, if we wanted BD we could have in 1971. Dont conjure up an enemy which isnt there. Bangladesh hardly comes up in Indian security or politics, except because of Mamata or Cattle smuggling. Thats it. We might not like your rise becoz its a competition to our garment industry, but that doesnt lead to nuking your reactors.

.
No you won't
Bangladesh has no depth whatsoever

It's not just economy, you have next to no military industry in any critical field

You are seriously behind and are only fooling yourself,

Bangladesh will forever remain militarily worthless. I don't know what your thinking of induction that will change this status

They sided with a Hindu enemy with the worst of intentions for Muslims

You can't get lower then Bengali to us

What is this stupidity, what do Bengali think nuclear weapons are?

You are just trolling. Stupidity is yours.

At the root of EVERYTHING is MONEY. Okay? MONEY.

Otherwise known as economic strength. Those of us even a bit on the side of supporting Pakistan have serious concerns about some of the idiots in Pakistan who don't understand this basic, basic fact.

Apparently you think jingoism, himmat and hurrah alone will sustain you and make you win wars. Get effin' real.

Nuclear weapons aren't tactically used. Rarely, if ever. They are mostly larger strategic weapons in countries like Pakistan and India. Once you launch, that's it. You have just created grounds for annihilation of your own country.

If you don't understand the difference and their uses in warfare doctrine, then Google is your friend. This type of jingoism (mere paas atum bum hai) is for the consumption of sundry burbak and ahammuk.

When you don't have money, you are worth little, and your 'supposed' friends will either 'leverage' you to the hilt (drill you new ones) or take advantage of you in the very least.

Now more than ever, time is now - apna ghar samhalo...belittling countries like Bangladesh is none of your concern and out of your league as well in many ways. Futile and useless.

Bangladeshi people have to be embarrased by Hasina, its like they don’t even have a leader at the moment. What’s the odds that she is currently happily working on transferring land to India for the airport they demanded?

.
Congrats to UN and Bangladesh, I suppose.

We all know how close Sheikh Hasina was to getting nuclear weapons.

.
The signing of this treaty, though I am no fan, can be the first step of Bangladesh becoming a 'Nuclear capable' state. This opens the door for the purchase of all nuclear technology, and Bangladesh's rapid progress in this field.
No. If Bangladesh would have signed it but not ratified it, then it could have made nukes like North Korea and withdraw from the treaty later on however ratification means that chances of making nukes is sleak to none.

When the situation becomes so dire that Bangladesh has to think of getting nukes, a treaty or ratification isn't gonna stop that.Because by then, our priority would be to protect BD, not think about the reservations that other countries might have about us breaking the treaty.

In geopolitics, nothing is set in stone.

Nuclear weapons are needed in extreme situations and not just to casually protect the nation. Bangladesh till date never had that sort of an emergency where you required nukes. Currently Bangladesh have problems with Myanmar and I don't think BD needs nukes for any sort of conflicts with Myanmar.

Yes, I agree with your assertion about the equation between the three countries. I believe, tension with Pakistan in the west is playing a defence role for Bangladesh.

However, I do not buy your nuclear formula. It has virtually no function. Do you think, your govt will unleash a nuclear warhead to Delhi whatever may be the reason? It is not a deterrence. Nuclear weapons are not children's toys that can be thrown at ease. Conventional weapons and people's mental strength are the main factors.

As for Baluchistan, do you think India would have divided Pakistan into four had you not the bombs? No, Baluchistan issue has been created by the unmindful Punjabi dominance over the Province at the expense of making the Balochis anti-Punjab and anti-Pakistan. Pakistan military should re-think about its treatment of the Baloch people.

India will not fight for them but the USA wants it to join with Afghanistan for the landlocked Central Asian countries to get access to the Arabian Sea via this corridor in order to take them away from Russia. No doubt, India will support this but without firing a bullet and by using its human assets inside Baluchistan.
shah se ziada sha ka kutta wafadar example suits the Bangalis most:lol:

even indians are not justiying themselfs the ways Bangalis justifying their masters:cheesy:

This is wishful thinking.

Nuclear weapons cannot be developed in a short span and withdrawal from NPT will invite 'consequences'. NPT is not a bar where anybody can come and leave as they please.

Iraq, Iran and DPRK are relevant case studies. DPRK is a nuclear power but at the expense of economic prosperity.

No, we are not embarrassed by Hasina. We are embarrassed that we made a united country with people like you without any mental depth.

i’m sure you are proud, she talked about terrorism with Modi and then signed a NPT, entirely relevant. While saying hardly anything about the Rohingya to the General Assembly or working towards highlighting that atrocity, fantastic leadership.

What India and other nations want is fuckless, dickless Muslim nations like Bangladesh to bend over for them.
Why do you guys have such big mouths when you lost the war against us. Then who is dickless. Certainly not us, but who?

If Pakistan did not have nukes it would be divided at least 4 parts today, not all countries in the south Asian region have the luxury of being India's favourite pet, you should be grateful to Pakistan for its taking the burden off Bangladesh by being on India's bad side and its resources pointed at us, for if there was no Pakistan, you would be India's worst enemy especially with this right wing nationalistic regime, your economy is growing at faster rate amongst SAARC countries, which means your also a threat to their wishful hegemony in the region.. don't be so naïve to think you will keep enjoying 'these' warm relations with India.

The only problem with Pakistan is it's corruption went unchecked for so long, we should of had an economy at least 2.5 its current size today, but atlas that's not the case.. our compromised establishment would rather see us fail then prosper..
I don't know why are you people, I mean Pakistanis, being triggered by the fact that Bangladesh ratified the Nuclear weapons ban treaty? Bangladesh is an independent nation with independent foreign policy and if the government and the people thinks they don't need nuclear weapons then so be it. Why are you being possessive?

Signing a treaty on nuclear weapons have no relevance with Rohingya or Modi.

.
Since they are never gonna get their hands on a nuclear weapon, might as well sign the prohibition treaty
