Bangladesh formally joins UN treaty on prohibition of nuclear weapons

If Pakistan did not have nukes it would be divided at least 4 parts today, not all countries in the south Asian region have the luxury of being India's favourite pet, you should be grateful to Pakistan for its taking the burden off Bangladesh by being on India's bad side and its resources pointed at us, for if there was no Pakistan, you would be India's worst enemy especially with this right wing nationalistic regime, your economy is growing at faster rate amongst SAARC countries, which means your also a threat to their wishful hegemony in the region.. don't be so naïve to think you will keep enjoying 'these' warm relations with India.

The only problem with Pakistan is it's corruption went unchecked for so long, we should of had an economy at least 2.5 its current size today, but atlas that's not the case.. our compromised establishment would rather see us fail then prosper..

BD is aware that India does not want an economically strong BD as it threatens the very existence of their state in their current form.

That is why BD is actually in the middle of a massive arms buildup. India will just have to learn with a strong BD

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen submitted the instrument of ratification to the treaty section of the UN in New York on Saturday, the foreign ministry said.

World leaders have gathered there for the 74th UN General Assembly.

The treaty was adopted in July, 2017 and was opened for signature in September that year.

Bangladesh signed the treaty on the first day of the opening.

The treaty will come into force upon submission of the 50th ratification. It has been ratified by 32 countries so far.

“Bangladesh believes in complete and general disarmament,” the foreign ministry said and added the country has already become member of other global anti-nuclear instruments.

hilarious, We know you can't make nuclear weapons. Why the need to make pledges......

hillarious. We know you can't make nuclear weapons. Why the need to make pledges......

Of course BD can in due course if it really wanted.

BD has had nuclear research reactor for decades. It will soon have it's own nuclear power plant.

BD has the financial capability(strong economy) and also the technological base to start a programme in due course. With the world turning polar polar(circa 2030 onwards) that will be the opportune time to start a nuclear programme.

I would have preferred for BD to keep it's options open as you never know what the future holds.

.
The signing of this treaty, though I am no fan, can be the first step of Bangladesh becoming a 'Nuclear capable' state. This opens the door for the purchase of all nuclear technology, and Bangladesh's rapid progress in this field.

No, Baluchistan issue has been created by the unmindful Punjabi dominance over the Province at the expense of making the Balochis anti-Punjab and anti-Pakistan. Pakistan military should re-think about its treatment of the Baloch people
Wish you can visit Balochistan,Punjab has largest Baloch population more than Balochistan.
Balochistan is just a wasteland.

It is not I am proposing such a venture between Baluchistan and Afghanistan. But, open the map to see that the Central Asian Republics and the USA need it. I do not see the USA to send troops to the area to start a conflict. It is and will be creating issues in Baluchistan with the assistance of Indian moles there.

How do you expect any Chinese involvement to safe keep its CPEC corridor when there is a general rebellion? The military generals should find ways to solve issues in Baluchistan. However, I suspect a large deficiency of sincerity in them.
You don't know about what you wish to talk.

Can a county withdraw from the NPT? Also what are the consequences if one withdraws?

Yes.

For now it is not a good time for BD to withdraw from NPT as it will encourage Western sanctions and BD is economically and militarily quite weak. Also India may strike at BD nuclear facilities with BD able to do little to deter and defend itself.

When the world is multi-polar and BD is stronger economically and militarily(circa 2030) then BD can safely withdraw with little blowback.

.
general rebellion

Why would their be a general rebellion??????

Where has their been any mass movement in Balochistan for such an act??

Do you think the Baloch are as traitorous as Bengali?:cheesy:

Your enemy plans, but it's upto you to counter those plans whether in Afghanistan or elsewhere, after spending 1.5 trillion in Afghanistan, the U.S is a little bit tired and the Indians in Afghanistan have been well and truly cornered

What India and other nations want is fuckless, dickless Muslim nations like Bangladesh to bend over for them.
Pakistan as the ONLY Muslim nuclear power lifted mountains to put itself in a position to defend itself
This is for the future.

Bangladesh ratifying this treaty is a joke

Your militarily worthless

However, I do not buy your nuclear formula. It has virtually no function. Do you think, your govt will unleash a nuclear warhead to Delhi whatever may be the reason? It is not a deterrence. Nuclear weapons are not children's toys that can be thrown at ease. Conventional weapons and people's mental strength are the main factors.
Mostly no. They'll be thrown at invading Indian forces (even on Pakistani soil) once Pakistan decides enough is enough.

Yes, Baluchistan is a wasteland with a very little fertile area for agriculture. Yet, its subsurface soil holds a tremendous amount of mineral resources. Even Sui gas is also there. Industrialize the province to create jobs for the locals. They will be content and no US-India-A axis can divide them from other parts of Pakistan.

PM Daud Khan of Afghanistan caused great problem in the NWFP for many years. He demanded to tear down the Durand Line. Now, Pakistani Pathans are very content with their fate in Pakistan. A similar thing can happen also in Quetta if the govt deals with them tenderly.

I dont get it when Banglaseshis talk about how good their economy is. Have you seen the levels of poverty in Bangladesh? Just a hypothetical question what do you think will happen if Pakistan decides to attack strong economy Bangladesh and no one interferes. It will become East Pakistan again. So you need a long stick even if your economy isn't much.

@CHACHA"G"

Is this NPT ???????

No, this is the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).

@loanranger

I still cannot believe how Pakistan was allowed to become a nuclear state even though the Mossad and CIA tried its level best to prevent it

Do not know about Mossad, but the CIA did not try to prevent Abdul Qadeer Khan from leaving the Netherlands.

CIA 'let atomic expert Khan go'

Pakistani nuclear expert AQ Khan was not arrested when living in the Netherlands as the CIA was monitoring him, an ex-Dutch prime minister says.

Ruud Lubbers said the CIA had asked the Netherlands in 1975 not to prosecute Abdul Qadeer Khan, who is now dubbed the father of Pakistan's atom bomb.

Mr Khan admitted last year that he had leaked nuclear secrets to North Korea, Libya and Iran.

He came under suspicion while working for a Dutch uranium firm, Urenco.

He has been under close guard at his home in Islamabad since his public confession.

According to Mr Lubbers, US intelligence wanted to find out more about Mr Khan's contacts while he was working as an engineer at the top secret Dutch uranium enrichment plant at Almelo.

"The Americans wished to follow and watch Khan to get more information," he told Dutch radio.

Mr Khan returned to Pakistan in 1976 to set up the country's nuclear weapons programme.

He was convicted in absentia of nuclear spying in the Netherlands in 1983, but the conviction was overturned on a technicality.

Yes, I agree with your assertion about the equation between the three countries. I believe, tension with Pakistan in the west is playing a defence role for Bangladesh.

As for Baluchistan, do you think India would have divided Pakistan into four had you not the bombs? No, Baluchistan issue has been created by the unmindful Punjabi dominance over the Province at the expense of making the Balochis anti-Punjab and anti-Pakistan. Pakistan military should re-think about its treatment of the Baloch people.

India will not fight for them but the USA wants it to join with Afghanistan for the landlocked Central Asian countries to get access to the Arabian Sea via this corridor in order to take them away from Russia. No doubt, India will support this but without firing a bullet and by using its human assets inside Baluchistan.
Listen you bengali squirt. You know nothing of ground realities in Balochistan. There is no baloch freedom struggle. A freedom struggle is when people fight with stones in their hands against the state where they live. Like Kashmir. The baloch freedom struggle is litterally a foreign intel agency run propaganda with its leaders hardly ever been in balochistan. The bengali freedom struggle was legit because people fought where they lived and being Pakistani I concede PAK army and politicians were cruel and we got what we deserved. But dont act smart thinking you are superior in any way because of this. I guarantee baloch people are fine if RAW and another agency leaves them alone. After all pashtuns are mainstream too. And never generalise the Punjabis again after all you might have some in your blood get a DNA test done.
