First learn to walk before leaping. This applies not only to BD but to entire south Asia. We have to get our house in order first before we can achieve anything. We have lot to learn from China how they converted their huge population into an asset by creating opportunities to their young people. All we have is young people who are not very well prepared or educated to meet their own potential. If anything can be achieved then we have to give them proper education and training. These analysts come up with all kind of bull$hit without looking at ground realities.

HEHE, it might be QUITE TRAGIC To YOU BUT The evergreen poster boys of sangh and Hindutva are Bengali's AURBINDO and VIVEKANANDA. :bunny:

If Singapore can develop with 5-7 time more population density why cant Bangladesh. Still there are plenty of open spaces in Chittagong and Rajshahi region. We should utilize that and should embrace modern urban lifestyle and move more towards highrise buildings. Government should make some new cities to lessen the burden on Dhaka.

Well, Singapore has a world-class service industry. In fact, majority of their exports consist of services.

If Bangladesh is ever going to benchmark Singapore's level, it'll need a major overhaul in its service sector. It undoubtedly has potential.

Is it going to be the thread of the day??

I assume you are making fun of Bangladesh economy. Don't be a magroor . In 70s to late 80s, Pakistan was considered like Dubai to many unfortunate Bangladeshis. I would say at least 30 to 40% people would dream to be in Pakistan. Many would take risk and immigrate to Pakistan. I personally know many went to Pakistan in 80s from my own village(sylhet) but that is distant past.:undecided:

Look, we don't know what's going to happen 40 years from now. We may be deceased from planet earth. Allahu Alaam. But Bangladesh government has done a remarkable job compare to Pakistan. It has focused and diverted a lot of attention to educate it's population. I believe if this continue then Bd will achieve at 95% literacy rate by end of this decade Inshallah ul aziz. I am taking about kids of today. Bangladesh is producing a vibrant educated class who will impact it's economy from in and outside.

On the other hand, Pakistan is fighting enemy within. If Pakistan doesn't come out from this hell hole(I pray to Allah for recovery) then Bd may overtake Pakistan economy by next decade which was almost impossible to think 20 years ago. So anything can happen.

All I am saying is don't be magroor because Allah doesn't like Magroor. Ok my brother from another mother. :)

Which Bangladeshi economy are we talking about here? The under-water economy?

Yes, if that's make you happy.

Or merciful Allah may grant us twice the size of Bangladesh out of Bay of Bengal. ;)

when reading such article one has to take into consideration what exactly been said in original article and what Awami League leaning newspaper publicized and Awami echo chambers are spamming. Being optimistic is one thing but talking economic future 40 years away when presnt is at risk and near future is shaky for Bangladesh, is garbage talking.

Guardian in its report identified group of countries and prediced that this group of countries could take over. That was more of general prediction based on IF's from earth to out of our galaxy. There was nothing in the report to suggest that Bangladesh could be that lucky. But Daily Star as tweeked the story to fit Awami League propaganda machine agenda - ask people to look 40 years away while Awami League loot and destry Bangladesh economic foundation.

1st of all, the economies or countries which have been mentioned here are going to get huge growth which may eventually become bigger then western counties.

Not only that Citi group also predicted same just couple of month ago and said Bangladesh will be the 4th fastest growing economy among the developing countries.

#4 Bangladesh

Wikimedia Commons
YoY growth rate: 7.5%
GDP in 2050: $5.0 trillion

Bangladesh is starting out at the bottom with a GDP per capita that's just 4% of the US, but with recent political stability and a young population it could get impressive growth rates over the next decades.
Projections provided by Citi. GDP in 2050 (PPP) was given by Citi or estimated using growth rate.

Lastly, keep your political rant and anti Bangladesh ego out of here. No one asked you which paper did what. This is prothom-alo and daily star itself which is publishing anti government news day and night, does that become pro BNP/Jamaat news paper then?? Most of the news paper in Bangladesh published that. Not just prothom-alo or daily star. No where it is said only because of BAL it is going to happen.

Go and keep on whining in some of the threads that you have opened. No one is gonna bother you there.

By the way @idune, I dnt know whether you have comprehension problem or not but this is the heading of the article.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/dec/18/booming-economies-beyond-brics

New-wave economies going for growth
As even Brics plateau, other countries, from Bangladesh to Mexico, are coming up fast - and could overtake the west by 2050

All the news paper are not dumb to publish something which was not mentioned. Read before you post. If you just intend to launch propaganda thats not gonna last long.

As predicted resident Awami League propaganda machine CaPtAiN of Awami propaganda pLaNeT - asking people to look 40 years away while Awami League loots and destroys Bangladesh economic foundation. In defense of his lie, CaPtAiN of Awami propaganda pLaNeT

1) cooked up more lie of 7.5% GDP which Bangladesh never had.
2) resorted Citi bank produced garbage, bank that has no credibity and lost hundreds of billion of dollars of its own shareholders and US tax payers.

And then CaPtAiN of Awami propaganda pLaNeT is marking his territory in PDF like a Awami League kitty. Meaow, here comes CaPtAiN kitty.

 I believe you need to get some mental treatment and seriously you should consult with a psychiatrist. Even when there is no mention of Awami league in the whole article or it is about Awami league this immature guy has found Awami league in it.

By the way who has asked to forgot looting of Awami League or 10% commission business of Tareque Rahman from Hawa Bhaban or to discuss about it??? But this thread is neither about those.

You are saying Citi group is garbage which had a revenue of US$ 102.59 billion (2011) and US's largest bank where as you have no credibility not even in this forum and you are just wasting people's time with your childish rant...

Who told here that Bangladesh had a 7.5% GDP growth ??? But does it mean Bangladesh cant maintain this growth rate in the future when in each decade Bangladesh has increased it's GDP growth by 1%... In 1970s GDP growth was 3%, 1980s 4%, 1990s 5%, 2000s 6% and end of this decade yearly GDP growth is expecting to reach 8-10% which is going to stay for a while.

Falu bhai putting money in the wrong place. It would be more better if he would find more sensible guy to promote BNP as some idiots are just destroying the credibility of the BNP.

.
my question is ,wound not be bangladesh affected by rise in sea level till 2050.she will join the sea by 2050?

.
By the way in terms of per capita GDP Bangladesh definitely can top in South Asia. The social development that is happening in Bangladesh will help to achieve it no doubt if the political parties stop all the trouble that they are making.
these prediction is done assuming that infinit natural resources but as we know we cant afford resources for a long timr .world will be running out of resources like petro, coal etc.

You are saying Citi group is garbage which had a revenue of US$ 102.59 billion (2011) and US's largest bank where as you have no credibility

If you are living in Awami League hole you would have no clue about what Citi group did and how much lie it told to stock holders, US govt and market. You have no credible way of baking up 2030 and now 2050 vapour prediction but you want to preach prediction of another big crook of wall street which living on Federal reserve handout. Even wall street discount Citi prediction.

Wall Street Aristocracy Got $1.2 Trillion in Secret Loans - Bloomberg
