Agreed.....
The USA is another far away country. Even given their role in the Liberation war, Bangladesh never participated in any anti-American activities.
Despite the fact that there is political infighting in Bangladesh, army should be suffcient to deal with any transgressions (majority of Bangladesh's current leaders are just never ending black holes).
Given India's policy of taking sides, including support for the current AL government (which isn't helping in anything at all), we can't say anything for certain. The damage done by Hasina and her ilks is going to go on for quite some time.
It is just that many people in Bangladesh are very mistrustful of India. Now, they could have chosen to be mistrustful of China, or Nepal, Buthan, Myanmar, etc. But why India? That's the question.
Do not be surprised if we do procure more military equipment in the future. And even if we stop spending on military and divert them to end poverty, it won't end poverty, or begin the process of ending poverty, since the money would ultimately go into the Swiss bank accounts of MPs and ministers of the ruling parties.
Things like poverty avelliation, addressing climate change, etc is not the job of any military.
