Bangladesh army preparing forces goal 2030

If you want to counter a tank of Arjun's quality attack helo has no alternative....

and i was not talking about air warfare.. this thread was about army..... A modern army needs support from helo... iraq war proved this..... Americans died in numbers when they tried to fight from ground against iraqi tanks used as pillbox......

Okay, fair enough.

Although, I still fail to understand why some of your countrymen claim that Bangladesh doesn't even need an army!

Peculiar.

Zabanya you were saying something:whistle:

.
Well, fighter jets are also offensive platforms.

For our airforce they will be used as mostly interceptor and most of the time hit and run type operation.

You missed my point. Attack hellos are usefull once you eshtablish complete dominance over sky and on ground. Does our army reached to that level yet??

Are we selling Arjun to somebody?

Or else how do you expect to face Arjun in a war?

.
Say for example, NATO sent attack hellos in Libiya once they completely destroyed Libiyan airforce to clean up selective targets which were difficult to locate by the fighters.

Have you ever heard of a hypothesis?

Realistically speaking, some of our aging jets like A-5s and F-7s do need to be replaced in 10 years time (the point their life-cycle will end).

Our air force is generally small compared to most of our neighbors.

Hmmm well why not USA then:P

Honestly though statement like the one that your countrymen are making does create friction.

.
I'd suppose you are speaking from experience(?)

Fighter jets are also offensive platforms. And four squadrons? Really? :woot:

By your logic, the ariforce itself or to that matter all defence forces are offensive. Now whats your take?
Offensive or defensive, I dont see any use for hellos up to this point. But fighters can be usefull to secure our sky.

Why makes you think that there will never be a an war between India and Bangladesh while 50% of Bangladesh's leader are anti-india??

There won't be a war there will be a punishment if anything that Bangladesh does against India.

We are not USA but neither are you India.

Agreed.....

The USA is another far away country. Even given their role in the Liberation war, Bangladesh never participated in any anti-American activities.

Despite the fact that there is political infighting in Bangladesh, army should be suffcient to deal with any transgressions (majority of Bangladesh's current leaders are just never ending black holes).

Given India's policy of taking sides, including support for the current AL government (which isn't helping in anything at all), we can't say anything for certain. The damage done by Hasina and her ilks is going to go on for quite some time.

It is just that many people in Bangladesh are very mistrustful of India. Now, they could have chosen to be mistrustful of China, or Nepal, Buthan, Myanmar, etc. But why India? That's the question.

Do not be surprised if we do procure more military equipment in the future. And even if we stop spending on military and divert them to end poverty, it won't end poverty, or begin the process of ending poverty, since the money would ultimately go into the Swiss bank accounts of MPs and ministers of the ruling parties.

Things like poverty avelliation, addressing climate change, etc is not the job of any military.

you and your soldiers are welcome to our land .

. .
India is not enemy but a headache for any small country

God save you if the creator of Bangladesh become its destroyer. :coffee:

Which small country are you talking about? Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Nepal, Maldives, Afghanistan and even BD has very friendly relation with India.

We have just signed strategic partnership agreement with Afghanistan.
Nepalese serve in Indian army.
Bhutan is guarded by India.
Maldives has deep relation.
SL has good military and economic relation.

Its you that cannot digest it.

Agreed.....

I have no issues whether Bangladesh buys advance equipment or not. Its not like it will threaten us or something!
But this rhetoric from your countrymen does amuses me.
