Nowadays world currency system is fiat currency and you don't have to have way too much wealth to print paper money.

Fiat currency doesn't require the back up of wealth and that's why inflation is like hell.

I believe you have lack of understanding on oil and gas. The biggest hurdle of Canadian oil production is that lack of refining capacity of the tar sand oil. Plus transportation of the oil from west to east cost is another big factor beside refining capability. That’s why a big portion of the raw crude oil goes to USA where it is refined then finished product is shipped back to east coast of canada. Same reason why Canada specially east coast import raw crude oil from other countries and refine it there.

Now let’s come to the gas reserve and lng that you are referring. Canadian lng may be good for Asia pacific market conferring production and transportation factor but not for Europe where transportation cost would be high.

I can give you an example. Oil export to USA via trans union pipeline was proposed to ship oil at a lower rate but got huge resistance from different environmental and aboriginal group. At some state parent company of the pipeline proposed to ship oil by rail but they have found transportation cost would be significantly higher.

So is Europe willing to pay the significantly high price for lng just to punish Russia? Alternative is to import from Iran via Turkey or from Qatar via a pipeline that would go via Iran, Iraq and Syria. Under present circumstances both seems unreasonable.

Another thing Russia did not lost it’s reserve. Only thing that has happened is that they can’t access the fund for the time being. Even Iran has got back money with interest what was frozen during 1979 revolution and afterwards.

I do not see this war will go on forever. Some sort of ceasefire will be there where both party achieve some objectives, for example Ukraine will remain neutral as Russia want along with independence of eastern regions and west may keep a government of their choice.

So if oil import stopped from Russia , Europe will suffer lot more than Russia, as importing 100% oil via oil tank will be extremely costly for them, that's it!

Germany cant do it now. Wait till 2 years and you will see. The infrastructure takes time to build. This war will have impact on energy market for years to come. Energy security will be given more emphasis then energy price going forward.

The policy of economic dependence build peace is over. The decoupling will take place in energy sector as well. If its not canada usa and like minded countries will help eu with energy.
