Bangaldeshi Armoured Corps: MBTs

Do not be so sure about what you are trying to force-feed us. T-55 tanks cannot just swim and cross even our 200m wide rivers which are plenty in number, isn't it? So, how it is possible to take them to Dhaka without airlifting or ferrying after the war in December.
Do not deceive us. We are the sons of this land and we saw your tanks as well. One regiment of PT-76 tanks and only one sq. of T-55 were sent to Jessore (our SW) that never crossed the Padma during the war. Even your PT-76 bogged down in the wet land and they also never went to Dhaka.
For Indians living in a make-believe world ignorance is a blessing.

buddy, you should study about your Freedom War.

Indian Tanks in Jessore.

I've seen a documentary which showed some footage too.

I got that source from the thread, I thought you referred to the whole page of the thread?

First make your point, you said the tank guns and laser designators are Pakistani while those are actually Chinese. I'm not saying the entire tank is Chinese design, Pakistan indeed has its share of contribution.

Dufe what drugs are you on ? MBT-2000 was a Ak with Chinese systems .. Meanwhile vt1a is an export version of MBT-2000.. And no AK uses either Pakistani systems or European ... Matis sights, lecrecs transmission,Ukranian engine and APS.. French hunter killer .. Everything else is Pakistani .. We even transfered armour tot to Turkey.. For their project...

And jut coz you read one source of MBT-2000 .. Doesn't mean it's about AK... The thread contains sources for AK ..you can also google them .. Infact I can provide you the official brochure of ATCOP LS1 if you are interested.

Both VT1A and MBT 2000 are exportable, VT1A is rather an upgraded variant of MBT-2000 (not Al Khalid).

Obviously the profits will be shared with Pakistan since it's jointly developed.

By saying lighter, I meant lighter in weight, both the engines are of 1,200 hp but Al khalid uses a lighter engine that increases its power/weight ratio and the ratio is actually 26hp/t (still higher than VT1A). It's actually a compliment, don't get hyper.

good!

Okay you win I lose, happy?

Here is an old AK chart ..

In addition to heavy 46 ton MBT's, Bangladesh should look into getting medium tanks of 25-30 tons:
Turkey and Indonesia to develop medium tank

And newer amphibious APC's or light tanks:

Heavy tanks are unsuitable for most of Bangladesh riverine terrain. We can follow Indonesian experience to get the right mix of heavy MBT's, medium tanks, light tanks and amphibious wheeled APC's.

Future will tell whatever happens in the future. But, many of our tanks are stationed in the Bogra Cantonment in the NW not very far from Chinese border. Do you have any clue what strategy is there?

Less you are not aware, Bangladesh Army have 644 old + new 44 main battle tanks. Also have 140+light tanks.
Please......don't scare us.

whats the point of all these tanks if there is no adequeteair support ?there wont be a tank rush to kolkate or through chickens neck with air support. because that suicide

Chicken neck rush would be a logical destination to divide Indian NE from the mainland India. But, no one can say of the time table.

Have you read my post? Didn't I say it was a pitiful one sq. of T-55 to Jessore only, which is very near to Benapole. This heavy tank could not go further during the war. Even those light PT-76 tanks bogged down in our soil 400km away from Dhaka.

Do you really think tanks run over the concrete paved or metallic road to a destination when it is war time?

you're one foolish fellow.do you want to see on what a Tank could run??

Tank generally gets tested on every kind of surface.about ground pressure,India tests its tank on Deserts.you can bet we buy/make tanks which can go soggy plains.about PT-76,it never got "Bogged Down".it crossed rivers with much ease, though these thin and obsolete tanks became easy target of enemy.even though few dozens were knocked out, everyone except 11 got repaired and entered into service again.

about T-55,its movement was according to the planned role.India planned each forces' movement in advance, which is expected.read this....

Military plans of the Bangladesh Liberation War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

it has nothing to do with soggier lands.if that was the case,BD wouldn't bother about tank brigades.

. . .
"Operation Mashed Potato" would be our logical answer to BD in that case!!

Dude, as BD's economy grows(over 6% a year as we speak) it will soon be in a position to buy many more tanks and modern 4th/5th generation aircraft.

The "chickens-neck" will always be your vulnerability and BD's ultimate aim must be to use this threaten to cut the NE from mainland India in order to influence Indian behaviour.

Dude - we did fight for 9 months in 1971.

India wont be stupid enough to use nuclear weapons if BD drives across the "Chickens-neck" to isolate NE. If only because radiation will be blown over into India and poison Indians.

BD is playing a waiting game and allowing the economy to grow and once poverty is eliminated it will create a formidable conventional military.

Yes meanwhile Indian economy will go in recession and Indian military capability will be less than what it is today :(
