Featured BAF to get high-performance fighter planes: PM

Tejas remains Bangladesh's best choice. The price is steep but India prioritizes Bangladesh.
India always prioritizes Bangladesh
Tejas would be a great option except that it is not battle tested.
If money is a problem a far more economic option would be to see if Mirage 2000s could be obtained. But India needn't be the only source of Mirage 2000s.The UAE was disposing off Mirage 2000s as well.

I will argue for Tejas from the Pakistani angle. In the future war with Bangladesh as part of the Indian alliance it would be interesting to see how it would face off against the JF-17 or F-16.

LOL you're like the "Pakistani" version of @vishwambhar

Fixated on an idea.

What coming war are you talking about where Bangladesh joins with India to fight on the Indo-Pak border?

Mirage 2000 do not meet Bangladesh's operational need.

. . . . . .
I would be surprised if it happens. There is a ladder to climb before Rafale.

Yeah I do agree with that.

Maybe that's why they are going for the Mig-29 upgrade with the reported new munitions? (R-77 and Kh-31)

Get some familiarity with advanced weapons and tactics before moving on to a more modern platform?

So, what is Bangladesh's operational need?
Who is the prime adversary?

You should look at the map. The conflict north and at sea poses operational challenges to Bangladesh which require sophisticated long term planning and foresight.

The security apparatus of Bangladesh is internal focused and not external.

Well since Hasina herself confirmed it , so I believe it's not bogus! Prime minister of Bangladesh is actually the unofficial Monarch of Bangladesh. I hope she won't play foul like other ministers.

I see a new troll has arrived.

In the spirit of getting back to the actual topic of the thread:

At least Hasina is talking about it.

Give credit where credit is due, it was her government that bought the Mig-29s and the Ulsan in the late 90's.

I do hope though, its more than just some token toys and rather a substantial buy to actual attain capability.

But the attention to support and infrastructure is reassuring.

Something will SURELY come.

What it is will reveal what Bangladesh's priorities are.

What's interesting however, is the upgrade of the Mig-29s.

Perhaps indicating a substantial wait for new platforms.

Likely signaling a Western source.

But the fact that new Russian sourced munitions may be obtained like R-77 and Kh-31 don't really make sense longer term.
limited numbers most probably... not more than 20 of each...since they don't have long shelf life,,, i reckon the ammunitions will all be used off before the aircraft is set to retire

She's from Sheikh family so suffice to say they're parliamentary monarch of bangabandhudesh

Against PAF F-7s in South Sindh where India brought down the PN Breguet Atlantic in 1999.
That is the likely theater of operations for BAF in a future conflict.
If BD chooses to stick it's nose in our affairs then they must face the consequences. Their airbases and facilities must be taken out by land or sea based missiles.

J 10 C or MIG 35. I hope it's s both and and in large numbers not just one or two squadrons.
