BAF jets to escort aircraft carrying President Xi on his visit to Dhaka

That makes little sense given we prefer to import from China directly.

Any 3rd party shenanigans and tariffs get slapped right back on BD and your measly exports to us will suffer disproportionately.
Do you even understand how trade and investment works. :)

Now my Bangladeshi brothers see how much Indian likes you. They just wants to isolate Bangladesh from rest of the world especially from Muslim world to annex it so that Bangladeshi Muslims can't get any support from them but when they saw huge investment from China they are on fire.
We will eventually become part of India once India is at least 50% converted to Islam. We Bangladeshis are working hard for demographic change in India. Few of the states already came under Islamic domain.

So you wants to be called Indian instead of Bangladeshi?

. .
It does not matter, but we will prefer India to be called Bangla territory
I bet Hasina G would not do that but will tries her best to make Bangladesh as Indian state.

Hasina govt.

I praise such investment because it makes BD more economically secure and long term stable. That is in China's interests too so it is good that China sees this and is pragmatic in its policy. Same goes for SL, Nepal and other countries in India's neighbourhood that balance their relations well.

Politically it helps the pro-Indian administration stay in power for longest time possible, and hopefully forever. They are busy dismantling the other parties.

From this I hope that a true development oriented political party in BD can form....which will be pragmatic with everyone equally and enough BD people genuinely will support without having to be oppressed by the 2 old parties in some way.

China has vast experience in Nepal, SriLanka, in Bangladesh and in Pakistan - how india interfere and how india block developments and how indian nefarious and subservient activities destabilize these countries. In case of Bangladesh, China already saw how strategic and economically beneficial projects like deep sea project in Sonadia, Padma barrage project, duty free access of Bangladeshi products in China were blocked by india and indian proxy regime in Bangladesh.

india and indians want Chinese money ONLY to the point for its proxy regime to showcase some development and india can maintain grip in Bangladesh with Chinese money. Anything more that will bring real development are blocked and stalled.

can you elaborate as Chinese don't understand BD's internal politics

In short, current illegal govt is 100% pro Indian while most of the Bangladeshis are not. So if china wants to do something in BD which might conflict with the interests of India, this illegal govt will give priority to India over China.

But I am sure your govt is not unaware of this. Lets see how much China actually invests here and with what conditions.

what should China do to counter this without hurting BD too much? Stop investment for now until a new regime go int?

@AndrewJin @TaiShang @Beast @Dungeness @Mista

Give condition to our govt to convince India to allow BD-India-China road link so that we can know India will not create trouble in BD-China relationship.

Lemme answer your question. Hasina and her Awami League are like PRC whereas Khaleda Zia and BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) are like ROC. :poop:

Bangladesh to roll out red carpet for Jinping

Bangladesh is set to roll out the red carpet as Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to arrive tomorrow on a two-day state visit with Dhaka describing it as a “crucial” tour to open a new horizon for bilateral economic relations.

“The visit of a Chinese president after a long time is the reflection of world leaders’ confidence to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s dynamic leadership,” Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali told a media briefing on the eve of the visit.

He said President Md Abdul Hamid will welcome his Chinese counterpart with “state honour” at the VVIP terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while a special aircraft carrying Jinping and his entourage members is set land at 11.40 am.

“A 21- gun salute would herald his (Chinese president’s) arrival . . . two Bangladesh air force jets would escort the aircraft carrying the Chinese leader once it entered the country’s skyline,” Ali said.

A smartly turned out joint contingent of army, navy and air force would offer him a guard of honour while Chinese President will take the salute from the saluting Dias and inspect the guard accompanied by his Bangladesh counterpart.

National anthems of the two countries will be played during the ceremony.

After completing Airport formalities, the Chinese President will leave for Hotel Le Meridian, the place of residence, by a ceremonial motorcade.

Jinping will hold official talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office at 3.10 pm tomorrow where the two leaders would witness the signing ceremony of several agreements and MoU after their talks.

In the evening Jingping would meet President Hamid at Bangabhaban at 6.30 pm and then join a banquet to be hosted in his honour by his counterpart.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will call on the Chinese President at Hotel Le Meridian at 4:35pm.

On the second day of the visit the Chinese President will place wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar on Saturday morning to pay homage to the valiant sons of the soil who embraced martyrdom during the country’s Great Liberation War in 1971.

Jinping will leave Dhaka for Goa, India at 10.00 am on the same day to attend the 8th BRICS Summit while Sheikh Hasina will see him off at the airport.

A 13-member entourage along with 33 members working staffs and 34 members security and media staffs will accompany the Chinese President during his Dhaka visit that is taking place three decades after then Chinese President Li Xiannian visited Bangladesh in March 1986.

The members of the entourage are- Political Bureau of the Central Committee of Communist Party of China (CCCPC) Wang Huning, Member of the secretariat of CCCPC Li Zhanshu, State Councelor Yang Jiechi, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Minister for National Development and and Reform Commission (NDRC) Xu Shaoshi, Minister for Finance Lou Jiwei, Minister for CommerceGao hucheng, Governors of People’s Bank of China Zhou Xiaochuan, Director of Financial and Economic Affairs Office Liu He, Executive Deputy Head of General Office of the CCPC Ding Xuexiang, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ma Mingqiang, Deputy Head of General office of the CCCPC Wang Shaojun and Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs kong Xuanyou.

Wait for the trip to be finished and see what materialises? SHW has probably informed us beforehand of what the agenda will be. I see no problem here.

There has never been any anti-CPEC comment from Bangladesh. Bangladesh strongly supports the One Belt, One Road initiative!

I am not in favor of economic (as well as political) sanctions to be referred to liberally. Before coming to that point, every possible diplomatic means need to be examined. In an unfavorable national political context, maintaining the status quo until a more favorable situation arises in its natural cause (without intervention or crisis) would be preferable over a forced change if behavior to one's favor. Because, I believe, this latter option is not as sustainable as the former.

BD is no different.

Major countries, because of their sheer size and scale, cannot/should not make drastic/dramatic moves unless absolutely necessary. Small countries can sway wildly (like Turkey) without much impact, but big countries swaying so wildly will definitely affect international conditions to the worse.

US' inter-agency rivalry (basically Pentagon and CIA rivalry) in Syria has contributed to its less clear Syria policy, which has translated into the protracted crisis.

Russia's principled and solid interest-based approach is very much distinguished from that of the US, in this respect. And one can see the practical result of the actions of two nations.

China should be in control, but not be seen as aggressively moving without regard to the national conditions in BD. It is a fact that every one of our countries under various pressures inside and outside, and small countries are more vulnerable to them, hence, their actions might not always reflect their preferred choice of action.
