A UK Court was told about the weird intention why an Australia-born County cricketer allegedly raped a woman in 2017. Worcestershire CCC all-rounder Alex Hepburn has been accused of attacking and raping a sleeping woman after she had consensual sex with one of Alex’s co-teammate.
The Telegraph quoted prosecution lawyer Miranda Moore as telling the court about the insensitive conquest in a form of WhatsApp game which Alex was part of. Prosecution told court that Alex was part of a WhatApp group “stat chat” in which members posted photos of the women they had sex with. Other members rated these girls out of 10. The winner was to get free night out sponsored by the other members of the group. The prosecution showed the messages of the group to court sent days before the alleged rape happened.
The prosecutor also told the court about the horrific event the victim had to go through. The victim girl had consensual sex with Alex’s teammate ‘Joe Clarke’ after a night out. Later, Alex raped her after his teammate Joe left the room. When the victim woke up, she found Alex getting physical with her. At first, she thought she was with Joe due to darkness in the room. When she realised she was with someone else, she asked about Joe. Alex told her that they both had sex when she was sleeping, and she should continue having sex with him.
In response, Alex denied two counts of rape, claiming the alleged victim was awake and that initial kissing led to consensual sexual contact.
