What's new

Australia is at a point where it has to choose between its ally America and its economic backer Chin

Yeah, i should trust some bias narrow mind haters rather than real economy data LOL please use "Facts" instead of some self-made "Trash" numbers to support any further arguments

You don't understand the difference between exports and net exports?

Gareth Evans, Is this someone.. . google to find more, not doubt you are still with US now, but no one knows for sure in the future when US further draws back due to its fading strength.

lol, you do know Gareth Evans and Hugh White are both ANU professor, and under a Think Tank group called Crawford School of Public Policy, which do you venture to guess who finance this think tank group??

Both weren't in the politics (Both were ex-politician) and not in the media, and certainly not in any sort of Media Channel, in fact, last time they go on TV (IIRC it's 4 corner?) They got blasted to hell by real politician. Even ANU does not endorse their view and treat them as independent.

I am studying in ANU and I am live in Sydney, do you think I will know if the Government, Media or Politician asking us to choose between China and US??

LOL

You don't understand the difference between exports and net exports?

He quoted TOTAL export..........Not export to a particular country.

They are rejecting is just some home pleasing policy. The hard fact is China trade is critical to Australia. Your mighty USA only contributed 5% to Australia annual trade. Do you want to know the percentage of China trade with Australia?
That's because US is not known as the factory of the world...what you forgot to mention here is that Australia is one of the cheapest source for raw materials for you...So if you stop importing from Australia it will effect your
industries competitiveness....

Australia's biggest export to China is Iron Ore and Coal. China will certainly not like to stop its furnaces from producing Iron and cause massive un-employment. Will it? BTW, apart from China herself, Australia is the second biggest producer of Iron ore in the world. Iron ore is like 1.3-5 billion tons is China's own production and 830-40 million tons is Australia's production. Next is brazil at 430 million. If China ditches Australia, where will it get all the iron ore to keep her Iron steel plants running employing all those chinese? And you cannot start and stop Iron Steel plants at will nor you can suddenly ask a mine to increase their production at will. On coal, China is moving away from coal and Australia's exports are already showing down turn to china. China cannot suddenly move away from coal and shut down her electric supply.

Your industry and power sector is dependent on Australia for their intake and there is no one who can feed them in short time. If China is world's factory, Australia is world's mine. You cannot produce things out of nothing. Your imports and exports are mutual.

Yep. Trade is mutually beneficial and both sides will lose in a trade war. If you keep using trade to threaten your partners, your trade creditability with other countries will also be hurt and you will lose more than you gain.

Honestly, why will any country make such hard choices. It happens only in the mind of ultra-Nationalists.

Here it is not even the question of credibility. Imagine the biggest cheese producer of the town telling the biggest owner of cattle ranch that I will boycott you. How long can this go on?

You will see if that trends goes on when China becomes so dominant in Australia's economy and US draws back further. Money talks in the end.

China is the largest trading partner with Australia and US trade with Australia is so pathetic low that I do not need to even present the data for you to see. Those investments are pale shadow compare to the amount of Chinese contribution to Australia yearly growth in terms of trade.

Take it or leave it. What feeds your stomach works best. China is a economic power house. You want to trade with us and make your country growth then you better be nice to Chinese. Monoglia may not like China but fact is we beat them and they need to be nice to Chinese. We called the shot. If you don't like it, let yr country man starve yr death. China will not even pity you.

Mark my words this arrogance will be the reason why china will not never dominate the world stage. As with all great civilizations they fall faster than they rise. This arrogance will be stepping stones to your downfall.

Yeah, since you said it, then IT MUST BE TRUE.... lol, then DFAT, FIRB and Australian Bureau of Statistic must be wrong.

lol, do not indulge yourself as Chinese are the lifeline of Australian Economy, we have rejected more of Chinese deal than any other country in the world. And since the residential properties reform, we are going to reject more. So please, ask the Australian who they rather choose?

Stop being delusional.

I said the same thing and all i got back was more arrogance, which i conveyed without any disrespect. Some things are always learned the hard way around!

What if in the future the Chinese economy becomes so powerful that US chooses to side with China, what would Australia do in that case?

This is NEVER going to happen. Australia is a developed economy, not some developing country in Africa, that mean we can choose who to invest and who to prosper, and it's in Australian government proposition that Australian economy will NOT BE DOMINATED BY A FOREIGN PARTY. Be it US or China.

You like to invest, that's your call, but in the end, it's ALWAYS GOING TO BE AUSTRALIAN First, it's basically in your dream that you can dominate Australia.

People don't know anything and got exciting by minimum of excitement. They weren't thinking straight or not even thought about it at all, then what do you expect??

lol. Let them live in their dream world, don't need to go upset after these comment.

Check the human history and you will know why people say never say never, China was dominated by foreign powers not long ago and so were Britain, Russia and US.

I would believe the earth will be colonize by our alien overlord the bogon before that will happen, if that will EVER happens. You do know that, the only way for that to happen is that China alone have shouldered more than half the world economy.

That's physical domination, i.e. an invasion. Not an economic domination. As I said, we are not some African country where you can splash your cash and we will bow to your overlordship. We can, will, and more importantly HAD the right and ability to choose who invest in Australian Economy.

You are welcome to invade Australia tho......

It will not. USA and western has demonstrated such attitude and yet they once rule the world. Now its Chinese turn. In fact, Chinese is better becos we do not imposed culture change nor government system on other sovereign nation unlike the west. Chinese do not have the attitude of my system is superior than your system.

Mark my words. China will take over USA as its dominate force. Australian need to prepare for this coming. Its not for Australian to choose but circumstances choose you.

Yes, in that never say never possibilities, a complete crash of Chinese economy or stagflation like Japan is also included.

US dollar collapse is more likely than Chinese economy crashed. The China Russia reminbi swap deal for oil has already send chill to the Federal. If few more countries start joining this game. I can for sure the collapse of US dollar is coming sooner than I expected :enjoy:

Let's put it in perspective. Australia's trade surplus with China is around $15 billion and her nominal GDP is around $1.3 trillion. This means that the trade surplus with China contributes only around 0.01% to her GDP.

You do know we're debating based on @Beast hypothetical situation that China and Australia stop trading, who will hurt more? actually after i read your above argument, i decided not to waste my time any further
"If losing 1/3 of your total export is not a big deal" what is?
Your counter argument was simply irrelevant to what we've been going through
