apparently he is a "deserter". so this is the indian government's stand on their soldiers, we will send you into war against a ruthless enemy, if you get killed in the line of duty then we'll leave your dead body letting it rot and if you get caught then we'll label you as a deserter!!

Maybe ispr decided to protect him after his government called him a deserter. It must've been a terrible blow to him when his own government called him a traitor so maybe he decided to finally become a traitor and made a deal with us that if we protect him, he'll tell us everything he knows.
