I can't be sure if this incident is an Asian hate crime or as some suggest an attempt at robbery or simply two guys having a very bad day. I can tell you that I see many Asians everyday in my neighborhood , my church and around my city, going about their business. They don't appear flustered or anxious in public, my Asian friends haven't been targeted so far. Perhaps these issues are isolated to a few cities like DC and New York.
