Hong Kong people have a Chinese surname and an English first name like Jackie Chan or Benny Wong. Mainland Chinese have a Chinese surname and last name like Zhang Yimou or Jiang Wen.

I have no clue why she changed her name to an English name. She might not be a proud Indian haha and thinks she's white.

Chinese people traditionally has multiple names in a life time anyway. So it’s natural to have an English and Chinese name.

Indians like to make fun of Chinese for adopting an English name. Being ignorant that it’s natural for Chinese to adopt different names at various stages of their life.

It’s Indians who become Christians give up their traditional names and adopt names such as Matthew George, Freddy Mercury or Nikki Haley. Chinese, weather Buddhist or Christian, would have names like Grace Chung, Eddie Lau and Gary Lin.

So from Indians change last name when they change religion. Chinese do not.
