Managing finance of a state is far different from managing multinational cooperation. Sadly, our current finance minister has botched both. We need a proper economist There are plenty in the country. The government needs to stick its head out of the hole called Islamabad Bureaucracy & look in other cities. The government should also invest in economic think-tanks that could tell where the government is going wrong instead of sucking up to them. Shun the old "sab acha hay culture."

Additionally, if the defence minister is a symbolic entity in our country then at least appoint someone who can be presented as a symbol.

Western countries helping India by trading and investing in India, whereas Islamic countries helping Pakistan, by trading and investing in Pakistan.

How can some one ignore this stark reality?

What would it take for GE to supply us the engine?
They'd be great considering the fact that they (GE) and Pratt & Whitney make the best of the best. But in order to supply the engines, i'm certain they'd ask for all the details on the JF-17. Something the Chinese would never signoff on.
Ge would live the business but you need the Pentagon and whitehouse to sign off on it.
I'm not sure if the Pentagon would have a say in the sale, but rather the US Congress & the White House, ofcourse.
