Aussies are afraid not jealous. Australia has only faced mini recessions until 2020. Some even claim no recession for the past 40 years (might be more or less on the number). They don't need Chinese fake gdp numbers. They have been doing quite well.

Huge numbers of Chinese students go to Australia to study, paying the Aussie govt. $$$ they couldn't get anywhere else. It's this dependence that they fear.....because the Chinese are also buying loads of real estate in Australia.....to get out of the clinches of the CCP. And then they do the usual Chinese stuff that they do in China......try to bribe Aussie politicians thinking it'll work.

In all of this, Aussies did what anyone else would do.
