Good, my family last 35 years settled in the US we are now completing paperwork to get the remaining out — a few from armed forces will be leaving as well, even they’ve had it with the institution and country as a whole though they active serving don’t know if they’ll just walk out or submit paperwork don’t know how it works there but they said once it comes though they out the next night. You can’t live decently in Pakistan.

No, pick a side. Either the crap pulled against journos and politicians was wrong then and it's wrong now, or it was okay then and it's also okay now. Don't go looking for rationale to separate the two where there is none. Be consistent on the principles, not on the basis of your politics.
