It's more like you were begging for the F-35 and we said no. You asked for transfer of tech of F-16 and we said no. You got denied with advance technologies because you can't handle them.

The army guys driving the tanks whose lives depend on them choose T90 over Arjun. What does that say about Arjun? Arjun is an inferior tank. It might look good for parades but falls apart in real combat. This proves again Arjun is a failed project. Time to move on. Don't drag it out like the failed LCA for another 20 years.

we should believe in the generals..but the fact is that there are different generals in our country who are charged with coruption..so it becomes easier for us to believe in a pissant soldier,than a 5 star general.though arjun outperformed T-90 in the deserts of rajasthan,these generals still choose t-90,but they were unable to give any satisfactory explanation

Said who? The DRDO and its bought "experts" made the 'Ferrari' statement to save the failed Arjun project. The pissant soldiers were just as corrupted, just not exposed yet.

It seems like India spends Billions of dollars on producing Indigenous weapons systems and then discards them to buy foreign weapons. What a waste of resources. Wouldn't it be smarter to purchase foreign weapons complete with ToT and save all that money.

Development cost of Arjun was Rs 380 CRORES or about 75 Million USD

Why all this sudden hue and cry?it was decided longo that army will go for 248 tanks,and a follow on later.It was already decided IA won't buy more.
Chinese and pak members may malign the tank as much as they wish but fact remains quality wise it is a very good tank comparable with most western designs.

LCA i must agree is a failed project as of now,its just too late.

I agree there may be issues that need addressing but I would argue there is too much readiness to accept corruption over genuine concerns. The IA leadership is nowhere near as bad as you are trying to make out. There are valid reaosns why the T-90MS is a better option for certain eviroments over the Arjun but the writer has simply overlooked this. There is really no proof these trails were "scuttled" because of vested interests or whatever. Time and time again we hear these sensationalist news stories based on minor and tedious peices of info that are blown up and later we hear (with much less fanfare) the REAL reasons behind such events and the reasons are perfectly valid and understandable.


The media is all too quick to jump the gun in these cases, it happens again and again and it unfairly tarnishes certain people and institutions.

I called out the corruption issues in Army specifically before the media made an issue out of it. This tank was available with the Russian armed forces before we placed this order. General Kapoor pushed his deal thru right before leaving office. Come on, the writing is on the wall. YOu don;t push a deal thru a few days before leaving office. As for making it look bad, IA does a great job at that by themselves.
