What's new

Army orders ALCOTAN Shoulder Fired Anti Tank Weapon System

By it not being reusable does that mean each launcher can only be fired once? Pakistan should try to get a reusable rocket launcher to replace the rpg-7

O Bhai I am going to die with confusion can you explain in detail what is the difference between Alcotan 100 and C-90 ?

The one which was fully destroyed in Kamra attack but How we have recovered it that is big question ?
You can't recover something which was fully destroyed, and 130 Million is almost cost of a new system.

Can you explain the difference between two

C90 is a rocket launcher produced in 80s.

ALCOTAN is its replacement.

The basic systems have "general" characteristics, but things like penetration, range also depend on the missile/rocket used.

ALCOTAN M2 also uses different warheads for different role (see my previous post on page 1).

CrM3 etc are warheads used by C90.

Which (C90) has been replaced by ALCOTAN.

Than Pakistan should produce it in Pakistan. A Private company is already offering it to produce it so we should go ahead

Google it instead of useless tagging.

Spain - Alcotán-100 Weapon System
The Alcotán-100 weapon system is a shoulder-fired, disposable anti-tank rocket launcher that was built by Instalaza, a Spanish weapons company, for use by the Spanish Army

It has an electronic firing control unit, known as Vosel, which gives the weapon a very high level of accuracy.

The Alcotán-100 has a sight unit, which can be used during the day and at night, a laser range finder and a ballistic computer. These are clipped to the launch tube before firing and unclipped after firing.

To operate the Alcotán-100,the operator must turn on the firing control unit. The sight unit then tracks the target, and the ballistic computer calculates where the target will appear in the future, so that the operator can aim the weapon correctly. It takes less than a third of a second for the computer to perform the calculations.

The Alcotán-100 can engage targets up to 656 yards (600 meters) away.

It fires a 3.94-inch (100mm) caliber HEAT charge, as well as HE/FRAG and HEDP (dual-purpose) rounds.

The weapon can be fired from confined spaces.

Mass production of the Alcotán-100 began in 1998. Production is believed to have ended in 2007.

@TaimiKhan bro you were talking about investing in Anti Tank Guided Missile systems, looks like we are replacing our RPG's with a decent weapon :pakistan:
Its a very good addition and if it comes with a bunker buster warhead, then further plus point. ToT is must as its useful. But since its unguided so we need guided munitions. For infantry hj-12 kind of systems and longer range hj-10 systems.

It's a short range (max 600 meter) battle field weapon, light weight and very easy to use. You don't need guidance for such a short distance that is probably covered in 2/3 seconds and aiming is aided by the day/night aiming device. Missiles come integrated in the disposable (10kg) tubes, strap the aiming device to the tube, aim, fire, dispose the tube and move to next location for a repeat cycle.

Yups that i know. Rpg-32 is a similar weapon with different warheads.

But this weapon not effective in the desert areas where max engagements will happen, that is why i said for getting those weapon systems. These short range weapons r good for ambushes and may be in green areas of punjab where teams can be hidden but not where long range engagements will happen.
