Army Chief: I don't believe in extension and will retire on due date

Smell refit between NS and Gen. He is out of picture after KSA visit. Agreement on some disagreement.
Yep some thing is cooking but not that bad, army is quite busy and since many senior Generals are going to retire in a short time they wanted to draw future plans.

.
He was just smarter than Kiyani and Musharaff as he kept up the façade of civilian govt. . Of-course I will believe him when he actually retires and after retirement keeps an hands off approach.

Definitely he is smarter than those mentioned name, and he is believed to be the most trusted person in Pakistan currently..... " I happened to read somewhere, that there are big cutouts of him in cities and taxies/rikshaw's has his poster displayed" Which means he has high fan following, and one doesnt get such support easily.... especially when you consider the situation pakistan is in .....

oh Nair, such things are manufactured and intended by design. Once the initial critical mass is achieved - the mob hysteria takes over.

We have our very own Modi to go by - really eerily similar personalities

lol at everyone (including me myself) who had hopes of him purging the system of corrupt fatcats/bringing electoral reform/getting rid of "true terrorism" from Pak (economic corruption) because he had the "blood of a Nishan-e-Haider" in his family.

What Raheel Sharif and Pak army have done these past 3/4 years have been cosmetic repairs. Kicking the TTP out of NWA wont root out extremism; eliminating poverty and funding education will. And the biggest roadblock to those two objectives are corrupt politicians like Nawaz and Zardari. Conducting thousands of rangers raids in Karachi wont eliminate the crime there; disarming the MQM will! And here I'd thought that the COAS would usher in a couple of permanent improvements. Business as usual, just another pawn in the hands of Sharif baradaran.
O hello you elect corrupt and than expect Army to clean the mess. It's a joke nothing else

I have a strong feeling it would be Lt General Zubair who would be next COAS

.
Not agree with you if despite N.S request to stay he decided to leave and anything bad happened related to operation against TTP, he may be labelled a person who cares more his reputation rather then country, Just a game and words are being played to check the mood of N.S what he is thinking. You know what i mean. Both are keep checking each other and as per my observation he will definitely get the extension in service.

Yar tum tou serious hi ho gaye --- i was saying that on the lighter note
Gen sb played it well -- he has his most trusted team in place (as being said in the circle) from Lt.Gen Bajwa to DG MO, DG ISI, CC Karachi - all are his trusted men ---- so even if he is 'Allowed' to leave he will still leave his legacy behind
and if he is 'not allowed' to leave then again he will continue his legacy as He wanted to leave, but 'they' stopped him because they couldn't handle jackass without him

Actions speak Louder !!!!
and his actions were the evidence in themselves ----

. .
i see him leaving on time, as he had said that he believes in Institution- that will set a precident for other institutions of the country and will throw NS to dark ages ---because then the real questions will be asked from him

.
Remember when everyone wanted an extension for Gen Kiyani? What if Kiyani had not gotten an extension? We could have gotten Gen Raheel Sharif earlier. So have faith people, there may be several more Raheel Sharif's standing in line, who may be even better and more sincere than him.

.
Hope the next COAS is at least same as he was ... he made the right decision , we can not rely on just one man .. nor we should think that Raheel was the only hard working and result oriented General in Army .. there must be many .. so lets just hope the next one will continue his work ..

.
I knew that he will never take extension. The war on terror Pakistan fighting today, requires lots of effort, strategies and it's completely headache. Plus, we don't take a second to criticize on minor blunders. All of the burden is on his shoulders and why wouldn't he release the burden when he has an opportunity to do so.
Well he did/doing his best and justifying with his job. Appreciated work is done under his leadership.

. . .
Good decision imo and i hope that next COAS will be even better than him :)

.
Good decision! I doubt it is to with his reputation, honour maybe but more of it is to curb this practice of Army swinging to two extremes on whims of whoever COAS is. Musharraf's example is in front of us, where army was hostage to his designs and endogenous quality of resisting insubordination or mutiny (like any good Army)
He has established Army as a more stable institution where institutional thought is more important than one man deciding according to his good wisdom what is best for Army specifically and Pakistan in general. Musharraf made some blunderous decisions which were either his own or few close confidants and not as an institution.

.
Good decision. After a relatively quiet 2015 (by Pakistan's standards) I fear ttp are staging for a big come back this year. If the recent uptick in terrorism is any indication.

I hope I'm wrong but it seems we are in for a lot of pain this year. And after each terror incident public will grow more restless and question the COAS and his initiative. It's better then to leave with a completed tenure and let the next guy bear the burden.
