Are you an Anti-Semite or Just Anti-Israel? Finally, the Difference Revealed
ARI WEISBROT March 6, 2015, 5:45 pm

Ari-Weisbrot-medium.jpg

Ari Weisbrot is a prominent litigator in New York and New Jersey, and moonlights as an occasional writer.

I have remained largely silent in recent months as Israel-Haters continue to hate-hate-hate. Israel-defenders flood social media with their staunch defense of the Jewish State, and break indignant at the insinuation that Israel is ever wrong. I giggle a little when someone posts on Facebook expressions of shock that the world seems unreasonably hostile to Jews, Israel.

I don’t get it. A majority of the world has hated the Jewish people since creation and/or the Big Bang. Ancient (and modern) Egyptians, Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, crusading Christians, non-crusading Christians, Muslims, Spanish Inquisitors, French, German, and Portuguese expellers, Torah Burning Frenchmen, European Progromers, British Massacres, Italian Ghettos, Nazis, Arabs, the KKK, the Congressional Black Caucus, Walt Disney, Henry Ford, Roger Waters. If it’s beginning to sound like a Billy Joel song, there is a reason. The list is never-ending.

Each of those Anti-Semites believed in their cause. The Jews aren’t a mere annoyance. They are the cause of everything wrong about the world. In the old days, you could also count on some mitigating hatred of black, gays, gypsies, the physically or mentally challenged, and any random minority who could be readily labeled as an enemy. Not anymore. As liberalism and political correctness have drastically reduced the list of targets, it’s much harder to find a good scapegoat for the problems of the world.

In some circles, it is even considered taboo to outwardly hate the Jews. So, what is a closet anti-Semite to do? Blame everything on Israel and explain that you don’t have a problem with the Jewish People – – just the policies of the Israeli Government. Some of my best friends are Jews.

But, because the three categories are so similar and often indistinguishable, I have developed a quick test to help you decide whether you are: (1) Anti-Semitic; (2) Anti-Israel, or (3) Just an idiot.

Please answer the Following Questions (there are no right answers):

For the purposes of this test, “Terrorism” is defined exclusively as the intentional targeting of civilians and non-combatants for murder.

  1. If you are a woman, would you rather live in Israel or Saudi Arabia (or any Muslim country)?
  2. If you are gay, would you rather live in Israel or Egypt (or any Muslim country)?
  3. If you are a practicing Christian, would you rather live in Israel or in Iran (or any Muslin Country)?
  4. If you are a terrorist, would you rather live in Israel or in Syria (or any Muslim Country)?
  5. If you wanted to join an approved or, at least state facilitated, Terror organization, where would you have the best luck? Israel or Pakistan (or any Muslim country)?
  6. If you invented a high-tech product worth millions, would you rather live in Israel or in Afghanistan (or any Muslim Country)?
  7. If you wanted to start a successful business, would you rather live in Israel or in Yemen (or any Muslim Country)?
  8. Extra credit, If you wanted to start a successful business, and you are a woman, homosexual, or minority, would you rather live in Israel or in Iraq (or any Muslim Country)?
  9. If you were a Jewish citizen of any Muslim Country, what would be your odds of becoming a Supreme Court Judge, High Army Commander, Miss-Universe representative, a member of the Parliament, owning your own land, openly practicing your religion, or starting as the captain of your national soccer team?
  10. If you were a Muslim citizen of Israel, what would be your odds of becoming a Supreme Court Judge, High Army Commander, Miss-Universe representative, a member of the Parliament, owning your own land, openly practicing your religion, or starting as the captain of your national soccer team?
  11. When I list these countries, what do you think of? Afghanistan, Pakistan, Lebanon, Syria, Algeria, Bosnia, Somalia, Sudan, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Croatia, Yemen, and Libya.
Please Choose 4 of the following answers:

  1. Hatred of America
  2. Sectarian violence
  3. Internal strife leading to (or close to) Civil War or open oppression
  4. Mayhem, War, and Death
  5. Woman’s rights
  6. High-Tech advancements and innovation
  7. Democracy
  8. Freedom of press, religion, and speech
12. When I list this Country, what do you think of? Israel

Please Choose 4 of the following answers:

  1. Hatred of America
  2. Sectarian violence
  3. Internal strife leading to (or close to) Civil War or open oppression
  4. Mayhem, War, and Death
  5. Woman’s rights
  6. High-Tech advancements and innovation
  7. Democracy
  8. Freedom of press, religion, and speech
13. How many active Muslim terror organizations can you name?

Choose 4: Al Qeada, Boku Harem, Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIS, ISIL, al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, Taliban, Islamic Jihad, Muslim Brotherhood, Armed Islamic Group of Algeria, Lybian Islamic Finghting Group, P.L.F., P.F.L.P. , Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades; Harakat-Ul-Mujahideen, Alami, Harakat Sham al-Islam, Hezb-e Islami Gulbuddin; Ansar al-Sharia (Libya) Ansar al-Sharia (Tunisia)

14. How many active Jewish terror organizations can you name? Note: If you named Israel, you either ignored the instructions above, or you are an Anti-Semite.

15. What is the cause of terrorism targeting Jews in Israel/Palestine?

If you answered “because of the 1948 Creation of the State of Israel within Muslim Lands,” Proceed to Question 16.

16. What about the terror attack in Tel Haithat killed 8 Jews (1920), or the Nebi Musa Riots that killed 5 Jews (1920) or the Jaffa Riots that killed 47 Jews (1921), or the Jerusalem Stabbing attack that killed 5 Jews (1921), or the Riots that killed 133 Jews (1929), or the Hebron Massacre that killed 67 Jews (1929) or the Sefad Massacre that killed 20 Jews (1929) or “Bloody Jaffa Day” that killed 9 Jews (1936) or the murder of a Jewish family of 4 (including 3 young children) (1937) or the murder of 5 Keren Kayemet workers (1937) or 6 Jews killed in Haifa (1938); the Bombing in northern Palestine that killed 3 Jews (1938) or the Tiberius Pogroms that killed 19 Jews (1938)? (just to name a few).

17. What is the cause of terror acts targeting Jews in recent years?

If you answered “the occupation,” proceed to question 18.

18. Is Gaza occupied by a single Jew? If your answer is no, proceed to question 19.

19. Where do 99% of all terror/missile attacks against Israeli citizens currently originate?

20. What is the cause of Muslim terror activity outside Palestine?

If you answered: Israeli occupation and the Palestinian conflict, proceed to Question 21.

21. What group attacked the USS Cole and why? The World Trade Center? The Charlie Hebdo offices? The Krudttonden Café in Denmark? The Madrid train? The train station in Russia? Pan Am-Lockerbie? The attack on Mecca killing 240 Muslim worshipers? The Mumbai train? Russian Theatre attack (killing 170 Russians)? The massacres in Somalia, Rwanda, Croatia, and Sudan?

22. Do you contend that the above attacks, all undertaken by Muslim groups, would not have happened if the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was resolved?

23. True or False: The Jews control the media, the world’s finances, Hollywood, and the US Congress? (Basically everything that impacts your life). If you answered true, proceed to Question 23.

24. How did they amass such power over everyone and everything?

25. With respect to Iran’s nuclear program, do you advocate cutting a deal and hoping it prevents Iran from making good on its promise to annihilate Israel, or do you think Israel should do everything in its power, even if it insults the President of the United States, to prevent its own destruction?

26. Speaking of which, what lesson did you learn, if any, when Israel was told that its withdrawal from Gaza would be the only way to stop terror attacks emanating from that territory and that everything would be fine.

27. How did that work out?

No... because there is no difference. Far more people died during the creation of Pakistan and India then will ever die in the Israeli, Palestinian conflict. Only difference is that we lost control of that land and quickly vacated whereas the Palestinians remained and continue to fight.
The difference is we are native to the subcontinent whereas most Israelis aren’t (middle east) especially the people the created it and most Sikhs I’ve met would have loved to have their own country.

Nothing against Israel as such but they need to stop using their lobbyists to get other countries to fight their battles for them.
To be fair, the joke is on the other countries, if they fall for the lobbying and fight Israel's battles for them.

A big shout out to those JIDF folks.

See this is what happens when you speak against Israel:

Just like that latest bit of news I saw, Rand Paul, when Bibi gave his speech apparently 'wasn't enthusiastic'. They LITERALLY claimed that he didn't clap hard enough.

Kind of reminds of of the death of Kim Jong Ill, people were singled out for not grieving strongly enough.

Excuse us if we refuse to give up some very basic critical thinking when it coems to Israel.

Hahahahahaha.
ahahahahahah.

That was beyond pathetic.

Beyond pathetic.
I can just as easily come up with a long list of questions, some very rhetorical, so that the poor unsuspecting reader is left answering in the only way the author means him to answer and very conveiently arrive at the conclusion that if he or she is against Israel they are either mentally retarded or a jew hating-holocaust loving-nazi-terrorist - antisemite.

NOW.

Let me just say that there are few people on earth that piss me off as much as pro-war hawks, religious extremists and terrorists, and scum bags like the guy who wrote this article.

You ALL collectively spit on the graves of Holocaust victims, using it's name and memory to justify anything. You use the most gut wrenching logic to justify the unjustifiable.

There is a clear distinction between being anti-semitic, anti-Israel, anti-Israeli policy, and anti-war.

You blur the lines for your own short term benefit. This is dangerous for Jews as a people and Israel as a nation.
You are playing with fire. And ultimately your hawkish nature and disgusting appetite for lies, deception and war, can only come back to hurt you.

I sincerely, sincerely hope that some of the left in Israel gain more power, and the rest come to their senses. Your behaviour is irrational, illogical, and outright fiendish at times.

Absolutely disgusting.

You and your narrative are nothing short of appalling.

Nothing against Israel as such but they need to stop using their lobbyists to get other countries to fight their battles for them.

You should see how much power these guys have in the UK.

And just like in the article, if you speak against them or Israel, they use the most fcking disgusting methods to vilify you.

. .
Israeli's are native to Israel. Palestinians are native to Palestine and Jordan That's a fact that the Pale

If you don't mind me saying. Typical clueless comment.

Before 1948, Israel, Palestine are not geographically as you think of them today. It was all Palestine one time, it was part of series of Turkish empires, Muslim Arab empires, Crusader empires, many things in between, it belonged to the Israelites too a very long time ago.

But this idea of being native to a land by ancestry, no matter how detached the ancestry is, giving you a right to said land it does not.

Could you imagine native Americans wanting White American, Hispanic Americans and all others to vacate NYC because it was their homeland, and they could just as easily cite the genocide of Native Americans as their motivation. Nobody would stand for it. Granted, there are big differences, but the principle of kicking people out of their homes for half truths of history is something rather ridiculous.

Now, as for the Jews of today somehow managing to link themselves back to the ancient civilisation of the Israelites. The Israelites ALSO acquired the land through genocide, they slaughtered the Canaanites, by numbers beyond count, men, women and children. And it was claimed by some of them that God willed it, and commanded it so.

So this whole notion of the History of today's Jewish population of Israel somehow citing it's heavily diluted and detached history from the land to justify how their ancestors took the land by force and kept it, and this makes them somehow worthy of being in the right when it comes to kicking others out of their home... is absolutely absurd.

And above all it is immoral.

Quote of the day!

I feel sorry for normal Jews sometimes. I can sympathise with them. We have the misfortune of being viewed alongside terrorists of our religion, and they have the misfortune of being viewed alongside the extremists of theirs.

In both cases, the association is intentional. ISIS types swear that they represent true Islam and all of us. Israeli apologists swear that if we criticise them, we criticise all Jews.

What a destructive and unfortunate phenomena.

Jews deserve power. You should read how much they study and give their best. the guy who found cure for polio i believe was jew.

Now look at us muslims living in west. We do not hold key positions in gov't in west, we do not contribute as equally as the jews and we love to say on news that we're enjoying UK welfare program.

Education is free in UK, like many western countries. So we can't say the muslims do not have equal opportunity.

Muslims too deserve power in UK, if they work as hard to earn it and make use of it. Saeeda warsi was in cabinet but decided to take imran khan highway and resign, instead of working with what little she was offered. Now we've no representation.

I admire the Jewish people. They're smart and very hard working, extremely productive members of society and valuable citizens to their respective nations, including Israel.

We could learn A LOT from them.

But that's not what's being discussed here. Israeli policy and gauging response is something all together different, There's nothing at all Jewish about promoting Israel.

If it's propaganda, bust it up with what wits we have. You see, it's exceedingly easy to bust up Israeli propaganda.

Challenge them, they debate, challenge them some more, they continue, give them something they cannot answer with debate, brace for the antisemitic comments, and Holocaust references.

If you can see the last two through, dealing with most apologists, including out beloved @Solomon2 is easy.
Cake walk.

So according the article...

Are Norman Finkelstein, Noam Chomsky and Avi Shlaim all anti-semitic, or just idiots?

I'm not taking sides, but in this particular part, aren't you justifying Israel's existence today, and suggesting that Palestinians should just be happy with what they have now?

White Europeans genocided and drove out the indegenous population in the Americas. Now those native Americans are confined to a few small federal reservations. The rest of the country/continent was taken from them. You are saying that it is unimaginable and unpardonable for the Native Americans today to ask European and other Americans to vacate NYC. You say nobody would stand for it, and I agree.

So now that Jews from across the world (mostly Europe) came to Israel and settled there and drove out Palestinians, shouldn't the Palestinians just accept their fate, like the native Americans have? If native Americans fire rockets from their reservations into American cities, would the world stand for it? So similarly why should the world stand for it when Palestinians do so? Can't your comparison with Native Americans apply to the Palestinians of today, if it can apply to the Jewish people of the 1940s?

Note that the above is not my view; it seems to follow logically from what you said in the lines I quoted.

I am. I am a realist. I don't see the Israel state being undone at all, and I do not see 1967 borders being brought back.
However, it is perfectly normal to demand an end to occupation, blockades, and further settlements and some existing settlements.

You see, you've assumed that I am against Israel's right to exist, not here not anywhere else on this forum have I said this. A slight redrawing of the map, some concessions from each side can however, easily be made.

And should be made in fact.
I've said there needs to be change, but you've for some reason assumed that the change I see is drastic, it isn't. Like I said, I know how things are, drastic measures cause bloodshed. And no matter how the lands were taken or given, the Israelis living on it now cannot be thrown out, it's wrong. It's inhumane.

Note that the above is not my view; it seems to follow logically from what you said in the lines I quoted.

It is very logical and I agree with it.

Most people here who are anti-Israel in the Israel-Palestine issue, question Israel's existence. So I assumed you to hold the same view.

.
The fact that Israel is inviting Jews from all over the world (particularly Europe) to settle in Israel points towards only one thing, that is, expansion of Israel. The encroachment of Arab lands, and marginalizing the Palestinians will not stop. Iraq, Syria, and Libya are already destroyed, now it is the turn of Jordan, Egypt, and finally Saudi Arabia. This ISIS thing is raised not for fun; the objective of this force is to destroy all the Arab countries that claim larger lands, and pave way for the expansion of greater Israel. Saudi Arabia has realized what is coming and therefore her request from Pakistan to beef up her security, which in my humble opinion, we must. It is not a big deal to raise at-least three division Army (provided KSA is willing to help with finances) solely for the protection of the Harmain Shareefein.

I guess these jews didn't get the memo that calling for the dismantling of Israel equals anti-semitism.

The OP is trying to be oversmart by posting the "thought-funneling" questionaire. Then again he is an Israeli (Nation of liars).

I have a similar questionaire of my own:

Who was living on the land before the european jews started showing up in 1947?
Which country's foreign minister recently called for beheading palestinians?
Which country regularly kills children from an ethnically different nation who's land it occupies?
If you were a muslim, would you feel safer in Indonesia or Israel?

 Nice try Israeli. Nation of liars..
