7abibi stay away from alcohol and weapons at the same time. We don't want anything bad to happen.

Qat is a very mild stimulant ("drug"). Harmless overall if not used in big quantities each single day for years. It is nearly not addictive at all. Less than alcohol and tobacco.

It is just green leafs that you chew. It is basically like drinking a Red Bull, LOL. The main problem is if it is used in each social gathering as in some places in Yemen and if it is cultivated instead of actual food such as vegetables, fruits, coffee, tea or rice. That is the main problem in Yemen. Some cultivate it instead of the above things which harms the communities.

I hear that the problem is even bigger in Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Kenya.:cheesy:

Well in Pakistan most guns are undocumented. They did a whole vice episode on Pakistani gun markets. :D

Same in KSA and Yemen. Maybe not as much in KSA now a few years after the gun laws have become significantly stricter - before they barely existed. Yemen though is another story altogether, LOL.

No they aren't.

Infact, someone I know from family terms, his dad (over 80 years old) turned into a Shia after he was lured by some other Shia retired friends who he spent time with. Immediately, he was made as some kind of local leader of Shia, and was granted with name of Syed. From the same family, another young man joined Shiaism and took up the Syed title, but left it soon after and dropped the title.

Cast is just a bunch of bull in my opinion. What matters is a person's personality and actions.

@DESERT FIGHTER

I once posted some of my personal weapons on this forum too, in fact I recall us having a similar discussion but that was when I was back home. I am in Europe now (Denmark) and I don't think that me posting weapons over the internet would do me any good, LOL. As a foreign student too. Belief me the intelligence services watch over such things and probably already surveil me since I am an Arab and moreover an Saudi Arabian to make matters worse. Thankfully they don't know that my mother is Yemeni otherwise hell would break loose.:laughcry:

Besides of weapons then I have some really OLD and rare Yemeni daggers (Janbiyah), Scimitar swords and local Hijazi swords and other Arab swords.

Some of them were used by various Sharifs of Makkah. Others from my mothers side and some bought down the years (not by me obviously). I have promised myself to protect it and try to collect old artifacts myself.:cheesy:

I really like antiquities of all kinds. If I was a millionaire I would be buying old swords, art, etc. left and right and maybe open a museum if I had collected enough.:smokin: As a personal interest obviously. Rather that then buying luxurious cars (never said anything to me).

Well we all can dream, I guess?

Anyway can somebody explain to me where the caste system comes from? Do the remains of this culture/tradition exist in Pakistan despite it being 97% Muslim today? I hear complains about certain landlord classes etc. that use lesser fortunate people/classes as semi-slaves?

Pakistan was majority Hindu before Islam (am I right?) but it seems that certain "traditions" have sticked.

Please elaborate.

In the Arab world between Arabs there was no lower/worse class in terms of tribes. I find it very strange that millions of Indians who happen to be born into low castes are condemned to cleaning toilets and marrying likewise people.

And then the Hindus here meddle in Arab matters and condemn us for taking pride in our ancestry, tribes, history, etc. while all this is harmless.:laughcry:

The caste system is a bit difficult to explain and I doubt my answer is a 100% accurate either. Some believe that the caste system was originally based on racial divisions, but that no longer holds true today. I don't think it was true in the past either or the only mixture that would have occurred would have been through rape. Mixture in the north western regions of the sub-continent has occurred but it still hasn't reached the point that an ethnic group or its ethnic appearance has been wiped off the earth, & hopefully it never will reach that point & the majority of those claims are exaggerated anyway. The claims of descent from Arabs for instance also exist because of the converts desire for closer affinity to their new religion. Personally, I find that odd because islam is a universal religion, but that's probably not how those making the claims felt before coming up with them. It's also claimed that the caste system existed before the arrival of the Vedic people from Andronovo. Personally, I think this explanation is accurate because none of the other ancient Indo-European people in Europe or Persia ever had such a practice.

The Greeks, Romans and Persians did have elites in their societies but it wasn't really comparable to the social classification that existed in the Sub-Continent in the era of antiquity. What's more likely to have occurred is that the conquerors, in this case the Indo-Aryans adopted this system upon arrival and gave themselves the positions of the higher castes due to their technological and military superiority over the natives in the regions they conquered & lived on, not the entire Sub-Continent. Later on the castes were divided on the basis of occupation, the highest caste was involved in rule, priesthood et cetera while the second caste was for warriors & military elites. The third was for merchants and I think the 4th was for agriculturalists. From my mom's side, my ancestors were Kashmiri Brahmins & that is the highest caste. From my father's side, based on my research & from what I have heard from some people, my ancestors were Kshatriyas which is the second caste or as I explained earlier; the warriors, rulers and military elites. Depending on which region of the Sub-Continent you travelled to, each kingdom had its own on sort of social order. Feudalism is kind off different, that does exist in Pakistan today, mostly in rural areas. It's generally landlords who in order to retain their strength prevent their subjects from getting any sort of education or in some cases bind them through threats, etc.
