Has the other 3 gov't given up on local elections? Court asked for next month election, but they keep delaying.

I'm in Karachi but I think PPP will try to delay local bodies as long as possible. They will lose Karachi and MQM/PTI/JI will actually do some good here.

Didn't ECP said it's too late notice? They need like 6 months or something for preparations, they added.

So in 6 months PTI cannot come with any excuse?

I mean to ask, has PTI given full permission to ECP? So that only ECP can decide when to host election, no matter what the gov't thinks. Is there such law?

Don't try to twist things. KP govt urged ECP to delay the LB elections in KPK because KP govt is taking steps to implement biometric voting system and is looking forward to hold these elections under new system.

ECP accepted this request since this new system needed time. Now that KP govt has developed this system and has tested it (several months ago, few bugs were reported and this recent one is an updated one with bugs fixed, a test poll was carried out), KP govt has notified ECP about it. Now its upto ECP when they want to hold these elections.

That was until yesterday. KP govt informed ECP that they are ready to hold LB elections in province in Nov under new biometric system. ECP is however not ready to do arrangements in this short time. So LB elections are likely to delay.

Maybe Dec, or may be early next year.

ever wonder why the people related clauses in the constitution of this country always face some sort of legal/technical/institutional/... roadblock? but when it comes to saving this 'monarchic system,' all of the ruling elite and the state machinery is seen standing united? all the constitutional clauses and the electoral laws can now be violated. anyone questioning this attitude becomes an anarchist. any person/community/province pleading for ones rights becomes a threat to the state. all sorts of arguments are brought forward and if nothing works then the ever green conspiracy theory is hatched and believed in.

WHY? Why is this the case even if I am half right? Why are the incentives of the rulers and the ruled so divergent? how can these incentives be made convergent? In its very essence, democracy is supposed to achieve this. But why the evidence in our country is to the contrary? Why are we stuck in this bad equilibrium state?
