Thanks all of you. Actually i heard that window 7 is much faster and stable than window vista home premium but my computer did not qualify for free upgrade from vista to window 7. I got Pakistani fake window 7 cd but i assumed original visa is still better than fake window 7. Do you guys have any idea about cost of original window 7?

Yeah Windows 7 is waaaaaaaaay faster. Just upgraded it like 2 weeks ago. You'll realize just how much Vista sucks once you get 7, trust me.

window 7 home premium cost 100 pound and full version 150 pound..its too much..you can get netbook with window 7 install in it in 150 pound ..thats how this bill gate became rich after sucking our blood

I'm not proud of it but I didn't pay anything for this copy. This laptop is just my backup. I primarily use my Mac. If you can afford it, I would recommend buying Windows 7. I know my step-dad paid like 300 euros for it a year ago, should be cheaper now.

Netbooks can be great for travelling and things but definitely not for daily use. Sooner or later you will start to lust after a bigger screen, a non flimsy keyboard and a proper touchpad so be wary! Anyway most netbooks only come with the absolute basic version of Windows 7 and it lacks a lot of features.

PS: Keep in mind, Windows 8 is around the corner (although... it could turn out to be a monumental failure, like Vista).

It is about 4000 the last time i checked. Got a new lappie, so it came free with it, in built, is really a rocket.!

Biggest difference for me is the amount of time it takes to connect to my WiFi after booting or turning on after sleep compared to Vista. And the usability is much better as well.

but what i dont understand is that if you buy basic laptop with window vista home premium installed in it..it cost you 250 to 300 pound and if you buy window 7 alone it cost you 149 for home premium full version ..in other words you pay 100 pound for laptop and 150 for bank balance of bill gate which dont seem fair to me. Original windows are over priced which force peoples to get the fake ones as you see in Pakistan they are selling windows 7 and vista in one or two pound

A decent laptop will cost you around 500 quid though. At least mine did, but this was 3 years ago. The rest is just clever marketing strategy. Maybe Mr.Gates has cut a deal with the manufacturers. In fact I'm pretty sure they have some sort of agreement. I would think that the manufacturer buys a licence to install Windows on their machines hence they can sell it to consumers at a cheaper price.

In your case, upgrading from Vista should work out cheaper shouldn't it?

Oh and Bill Gates isn't that bad, he's giving away a lot of his money to charity.

But remember, that's 300 pounds sterling. The standard these days is 4GB RAM, Intel dual core i3 processor and a 320 GB HDD. Anything with less power than that is not worth it IMHO.

If you think Windows is too expensive, you can always try Linux. Ubuntu is getting ever more user friendly these days. Only thing is you will have to compromise on a lot of software. That means no MS Office, Outlook, Photoshop etc etc. This is exactly why Microsoft can afford to corner you for your money. I had Ubuntu for a while but reverted back to Windows precisely because of this.

For internet surfing , watching videos , ms office or basic video editing we don't need much higher specification. I am not one of those peoples who get latest technology for sake of it even if they dont need it or use it. I came across many peoples who have got l;atest apple iphone 4 or blackberry but never used it for internet or email

Indeed, but it's better to go for a fairly decent laptop. It will last much longer. Keep in mind how quickly computers become obsolete.
