What's new

Any computer expert here- need help

Go to the previous installation directory and see if the skype folder has been completely removed-
after that go to that folder
C:\Users\D3V1L\AppData\Roaming\Skype

and shift delete the skype folder-

instead of D3V1L use your username-

.
In lay man terms your register is corrupt-
i advise you to re install the OS again as long term solution-
For time being if you are not a novice user- use any free registry cleaning software-

My window visa is up to date and I dont know where this I:/ drive came from no where :(

Did you make sure to re-boot? I'm pretty sure this is a registry error. I've never seen a drive I:/ before. The best advise I can give you is to refer to Luftwaffe's link.

Not qualified at all! Still in college. Anything I know, I know from spending too much time on the internet! :D

do you haveca USB drive plugged in?
if so...try removing it and then intall skype.
another thing to check is your computer's date and time...should be accurate before installing skype.

Yes as i said before i tried to get help from skype community first and then i used google to get help from peoples who faced same problems but still this problem exist and let me tell u that after i get error "invalid drive I:/" i get this message "Installing Skype failed; Code 1603. A Fatal error occurred during installing " i prefer skype over other voip..one because of voice clarity and second because of video chat and its easy to use and much stable than yahoo or msn
IMO let you have only chit chat..no voice calling there

Did you try the link in post 22? It is basically Skype from a browser, it even has video chat. Like I said, it's not a permanent fix but it'll get you sorted for the time being.

I may be out of my depth here, I don't think I can help you without taking a look at your registry. The only other thing I can think of at the minute is a clean Windows re-install but that's waaay too drastic for the moment.

try removing any usb drives before installing skype...also accurate time n date...
and something good may happen
