Another province can be created in Punjab - PM

"Any Pakistani with even a little pride towards its ethnic group will not support the idea of their province being broken down. Most Baloch will not support the breaking of Balochistan, most Pukhtuns will not support the breaking of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, most Sindhis will not support the breaking of Sindh, and most Punjabis will not support the breaking of Punjab."

Give me the facts sir. Until now, those sindhis, those angry balochis, those obese punjabi etc have achieved nothing. We need more provinces--which will create more assemblies, resources will be efficiently used/produced, government will have less people to feed and take care of, more local jobs etc etc

And for the hatred you mentioned, give me some facts.

Ok then start with the largest province of Pakistan BALOCHISTAN. And let me know how well the people of Balochistan handle their very large province being broken down into pieces.

KEEP ON BREAKING THE GREAT GREAT LAND OF FIVE RIVERS.
FIRST IN 1947 IT WAS BROKEN IN TWO.
THAN IN INDIA IT WAS BROKEN and STATES OF HARYANA AND HIMACHAL PRADESH CAME OUT.
NOW BREAK IT IN PAKISTAN ALSO.:angry::angry::angry:

I hate it

It can be a good thing, smaller states in India are doing better right? Development can be faster maybe.

Enlighten yourself please before making your pathetic accusations on Punjab.

Punjab also has many problems as other provinces of Pakistan. There is also a lot of poverty in Northern/Central Punjab. If you think we eat all the money and leave other provinces with nothing you are mistaken. Pakistan is an agricultural country, much of agriculture is grown in Punjab because of Punjab's very fertile land so Punjab benefits. Balochistan might not be blessed with agricultural growth like Punjab but it has potentials in other areas. For example, build Gwadar Port and then Balochistan and people of Balochistan benefits. Just like the ports in Karachi are benefiting people of Sindh.

Breaking down provinces will only make people of the provinces angry and more disunity in Pakistan, but you would love that wont you. After all you are a MQM supporter.

you still havent read about the system ... or you just dont want to know !!? here is a link of public opinion as according to your logic any one talking sense or trying to bring change is a traitor .. i can understand you wish to stay in your shell but this system is a failure , it only helps flourish estabilishment and the fuedals this system isnt favouring pakistan its only favouring a province try and read what are the majority saying here , and yes i lsupport MQMs stance on all fundamental issues

You used pretty strong words which shouldn't have been used at the first place!

Its a matter of your ethnic pride. I am sure nationalist Punjabis in India didnt support the idea of their Punjab being broken down to Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

NO...Smaller states doing better is no funda for devolpment.
Its funda..to do more loots, more Ministers, more cabionets, more cars, more facilities and more new dimensions and possibilities of CORRUPTION.

Jharkhand went to worse position and we saw the Madhu koda corruption case.

Try to Look at bigger picture

good move by PM to pressurize pmln to put them alert that if pmln tries to kick us out from punjab govt then we can play that card too, smart political move. it is just a statement to play some politics which may be supported by pmlq south belt and offcourse javaid hashmi. shah mehmood qureshi is there too, be watch it.

I don't know why some peoples think that breaking the provinces means breaking the whole country?

Make yourself feel like Pakistanis only... why you divide yourself in the name of castes, cultures and languages?

We are all Pakistanis and must be thinking about the progress of Pakistan... and by dividing the provinces to shorter boundaries also mean you have a quick access to public and each minister will have less population to worry about. The resources will be divided in better way and so will they reach towards the public...

with less corruption of course as the budget will be less for each province and they will have to be accountable for their regions only - so many advantages you can take

We would prefer not to break down and rename our provinces into smaller ones the way India does. Although it does lead to easier administration of an area, it also increases ethnic divisions, and we wouldn't want to be facing the 130+ active separatist insurgencies the way India does, although that probably won't even happen if we did split up Punjab, because Pakistan is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and religion is the binding glue that holds the ethnicities together. So personally, I guess I'm a little indifferent to this new change. I don't think it will make any difference, because if a corrupt provincial government is established in South Punjab, there will be no change in Pakistan. But if an honest provincial government is established, and if the province is not created on the basis of ethnicity, then it could have a very positive change as well. So I'm sitting on the fence on this. Undecided.

His words describe the reality.

Why should we divide our centuries-old, historic province to satisfy you Muhajirs and other haters.

Please get over your Mohajir-phobia. Mohajirs only want the best for Pakistan. Let's not go there again.

with all due respect to you Omar Bhai,

what is the definition of Nationalist?

1) A person who loves his land like a mother

2) A person who loves his country like a mother?

If option 1 is correct then you might be right

but if option 2 is correct, you would like to compromise if your country wants you to. If by dividing your provinces to smaller states helps you generate more money in taxes, more services for public and more accessibility to the barren lands/areas and better way of accountability for everybody and far better progress towards the country's economy I don't see why they should not be splited in smaller states?

Look at other countries for example. India is 4 times larger than you but they have 9 times more states than you in that area (28 states). That in my opinion is one of the key reason of their progress and higher growth rate

Look at Afghanistan, they are far smaller than you, yet enjoy 34 provinces in the country.

Look at European countries.... UK has divided its own country in counties and boroughs and each borrow have their own alloted budget... England is only 130,000 square kilometers yet they have 48 counties in the country.

Look at Italy, they are about 40% of your size of Pakistan and yet they have about 109 provinces in the country.

Most of the countries in the world (or should i say progressive countries) nowadays have been dividing its country in more states/provinces so that they can reach to the public in the quickest form of governance and boost country's economy by taking the most benefit out of little

No, I was thinking like Kerala or Goa have done great in human development. Also Punjab, Harayana, etc is doing better then most and Southern States too. I always thought smaller states would be better, but there are two sides of the story I guess.
